1985 Sea Ray Seville

I am thinking of buying a 1985 Sea Ray Seville, 19 foot, with a 190
mercruiser (the big four cylinder). In researching this I have
discovered that the motor has some minor quirks-- the FWC system needs
regular matainence, and the electrical system is weird-- but I think I
can handle all this.

But I am a little concerned about the overall quality of the boat. I
have read somewhere that Sea Rays in the 80's had a lot of issues, and
that perhaps the Sevilles weren't even made by Sea Ray.

The one I am looking at is in remarkable shape for being 20 years old,
so I am not too concerned, but I would like to hear from anybody who
has experiance with these boats.

This boat will just be used as weekend toy, pulling skiers,
wakeboarders and tubers. The boat appears to have less of "deep V"
than most boats of this type from the 80's, so I was thinking that it
would probably be a better ski/wakeboard boat than most. Anybody
agree/disagree?

I realize that this will not be close to any "real" ski/wakeboard
boat, but I would like to get one that is at least "decent"

Thanks

SJP

Great boat if the price is right. Expect the engine to run hot(compaired to
other marine engines), I burned up 2 voltage regulators over the 3 years I had
the motor. The work around the heat/voltage problems is a Wagner conversion.
But I bet you dont have the room under the "hood" for this conversion. Great
gas useage. Good luck.
