Boat trailer springs

Hello

I have a 1965 "steel box" not I-beam boat trailer that I want to replace the springs
on.

Here is the problem: the spring on the trailer now is double eye 42" and the new
spring are about 25". Plus the spring height is 3" for the new spring and the old spring
is 5 ¼ ".

Can I use a new hanger, which would drop my new spring down to about the same
height as where the old one is now i.e. 3 ½ " spring hanger?

Do I need to use a shackle link the old set-up has one now? (I do not think the rear
hanger is made with that kind of height)

Thanks in Advance.
Christopher

Check with Champion Trailer parts in Slidell, LA if they have a replacement
to fit. Or go to the truck spring supplier for your area. In the San
Franciso area it is US spring or Betts spring. They will make the springs to
fit.

I agree with Bill. Look up a sping rebuilder locally and have it done
there. It's not expensive.

Later,

Tom
