Inside Channels - Chincoteague to Machipongo?

Is it possible to take a small powerboat (24 Ft length, 3 Ft draft)
from Cincoteague to Great Machipongo Channel by way of the channels
west of the barrier islands? The chart (12210 Chincoteague Inlet to
Great Machipongo Inlet) shows marked channels all the way, but some of
them look awfully "skinny." Anyone out there with recent local
knowledge?

Thanks,
Lleb

Put it this way: I wouldn't try it with YOUR boat without a helicopter escort.

I'm sure it can be done. But I wouldn't try it. Look on your chart at
the channel from Quinby outside. This channel is about 6' wide in
places...and surrounded by shoal water which is about 12" or less at low
tide. The daymarkers are very confusing back there and there are enough
mosquitoes to clog your flame arrestor. If you try it, bring:

1 deck pinochle cards
2 gallons DEET
3 kilotons DDT
4 or five 6-packs
and a GPS to retrace your steps to a legitimate channel.

Good luck.
