You can take it from there. You just hit a hot button with me.... the state regulators just gave BellSouth (et al) permission to go up 12% per year.... VOIP.... here I come..... VOIP doesn't suck as much as it did a few years ago. The problem I have with "DSL" is that they try to resell ISDN as DSL for those of us who are more than 25,000 feet from the switch. If you are under 10,000 feet from the switch then you are ok. The telco pesters me frequently about DSL, so I asked where the CO was. They wouldn't tell me. Their price is only a little less than cable, but their speed is less than half. I had DSL previously, and it was pretty solid, but, really, cable ain't bad. The DSL "finder" can't tell me, either. Back when Covad was reselling DSL on verizon's network you get find out what speed you could expect. But, since the FCC said that the telco's didn't have to let third parties resell on their networks all of the DSL speed estimaters have disappeared. When Verizon gets fiber into the house then it might be worth looking at agains. |
