On my weekend trip where I lost the wheel bearing, I realized another
great
thing about disk brakes besides the stopping power. The hub and rotor are
one unit on the Kodiak brakes. Was so hot that the threaded portion of the
spindle deformed. The nut was about 75% worn away and was only held on by
the remains of the cotter pin. Main reason that the wheel did not come
off
is rotor and hub are one unit, so the caliper actually was saving me from
the hub and wheel departing the trailer.

Also a great thing about dual-axel tralers. When we were choosing our
trailer
many advised to go with single axel for manuverability and other reasons. I
like that if any one tire and/or wheel go...we've still got control of the
rig and
could even limp along for some distance if we had to.
