That's the definition of "fidelity". Lack of fidelity is definitely not a

Guess who's about to crash and burn because of "fidelity issues"? Hehehe.

'This won't go away. What happened is much nastier than is being reported'
By Adrian Blomfeld in Nairobi and Andrew Alderson
(Filed: 15/02/2004)

Alex Polier, the twenty-four year old journalist who could end Senator John
Kerry's hopes of becoming the next president of the United States is alleged
to have had a two-year affair with the front-runner for the Democratic
nomination. Last night the rumours were in danger of becoming a full-blown
scandal.

"This is not going to go away," one American friend of Miss Polier said
yesterday. "What actually happened is much nastier than is being reported."

The allegations come at a crucial time for the senator. Polls showed him
leading Mr Bush by 52 per cent to 42 per cent, and aides will be anxious to
see if the apparent scandal affects his standing among voters.

Miss Polier, a former intern who also spent some time in 1998 doing work
experience at the Houses of Parliament in London, is in Kenya staying with
Yaron Schwartzman, her fiance and a member of the country's fashionable
young set. The couple have refused to make any comment on her alleged links
with Senator Kerry, who is married to Teresa Heinz Kerry, an heiress to the
food empire.

Senator Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran dubbed the new JFK, has
vehemently denied any relationship with Miss Polier, and shrugged off
allegations that he had a two-year affair with her from 2001. "I just deny
it categorically. It's rumour. It's untrue. Period," he said.

Mr Kerry, 60, has won 12 out of the 14 Democratic primaries and has looked
all but certain to seal the nomination to take on President George W. Bush
in November's elections.

His aides have blamed a dirty tricks campaign for bringing the allegations
about Miss Polier into the public eye; they first surfaced last week on a
Right-wing internet site, the Drudge Report, which famously first broke the
news of Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Miss Polier's parents, Terry and Donna, from Malvern, Pennsylvania, added
fuel to the fire by claiming that Mr Kerry did pursue their daughter.

"I think he's a sleazeball. I did wonder if she didn't get that feeling
herself," said Mr Polier. "He's not the sort of guy I'd choose to be with my
daughter.

"John Kerry called my daughter and invited her to be on his re-election
committee. She talked to him and decided against it."

The Drudge website also quoted retired Gen Wesley Clark, one of Mr Kerry's
rivals for the nomination, as having told journalists off the record: "Kerry
will implode over an intern issue."

Mr Clark later dropped out of the race and endorsed Mr Kerry.

Miss Polier, a journalist who once worked for Associated Press, is a
graduate of Columbia University, New York. She apparently met the senator as
she was beginning her media career. Miss Polier and her fiance were believed
to be hiding yesterday at the Nairobi home of Mr Schwartzman's parents, who
moved to Kenya from Israel.

She appears to have few friends of her own in Kenya: she has never lived in
the country and makes only occasional visits. "She seemed perfectly nice,
although she was a little cool," said a Schwartzman family friend.

"She didn't seem to be very willing to open up but whether it was because
she was aloof or just shy, I couldn't work out."

I haven't watched the news. Like I've said before, I get my news primarily
from My Yahoo page...which gives headlines from reuters, AP, NY times, USA
Today, Washington Post, and the LA Times...and from Drudgereport.com and
Newsmax for the "unique headlines". I'll occasionally read cnn.com,
foxnews.com, and msnbc.com. When the weather's bad down here, I watch Meet
the Press on Sunday's morning.

The only place that has covered it extensively is Drudge. He mentioned that
the NYTimes and Washington Post were actively pursuing the story, however.
I guess we'll see...

It probably hasn't grown legs because as it stands now, it's nothing more

Woman breaks silence to deny rumors of an affair with Sen. Kerry

MATTHEW ROSENBERG, Associated Press Writer
Monday, February 16, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(02-16) 09:54 PST NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) --

A woman who has been the subject of rumors linking her to Sen. John
Kerry denied Monday that she ever had an affair with the Democratic
presidential candidate.

Breaking her silence four days after the allegations surfaced on the
Internet, Alexandra Polier issued a statement to The Associated Press,
saying, "I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the
rumors in the press are completely false."

Kerry already has denied reports that he had an extramarital affair.
On Monday, his campaign said he would have no further comment.

Polier's statement was released to the AP in Nairobi, where the
27-year-old freelance journalist is visiting the parents of her
fiance, Yaron Schwartzman, an Israeli who was raised in Kenya. She
previously worked as an editorial assistant for the AP in New York.

"Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me,"
Polier said, appealing to the media to respect her privacy and the
privacy of her fiance and his family.

Polier also took issue with reports that referred to her as a former
Kerry intern.

"I never interned or worked for John Kerry," she told AP over the
phone.

In a separate statement, Polier's parents, Terry and Donna Polier of
Malvern, Pa., dismissed the "completely false and unsubstantiated"
allegations about their daughter.

"We love and support her 100 percent and these unfounded rumors are
hurtful to our entire family," the statement said. "We appreciate the
way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for
him for president of the United States."

The statement did not address purported quotes by Polier's parents in
the British tabloid The Sun that were harshly critical of Kerry.

Kerry has won 14 of 16 Democratic primaries and caucuses, and is
expected to be the Democratic challenger to President Bush in
November.

Rumors of a relationship between Kerry and Polier first appeared
Thursday on the Internet and were picked up by newspapers in several
countries outside the United States. Few U.S. publications printed her
name, however.

Asked Friday about the reports, Kerry told reporters: "I just deny it
categorically. It's rumor. It's untrue. And that's the last time I
intend" to respond to questions about it.

Regarding her silence until now, Polier said, "Because these stories
were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that
efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address
them."

I can only draw two conclusions: 1) Kerry's people coerced 'em via money or
threats, or 2) Mr. Polier is a man after Kerry's own heart...he says one
thing one day, and the exact opposite the next. Liberals seem to do that a
lot. I wonder if it was all the pot they smoked and acid they dropped in
the 60's?

Doug Kanter February 17th 04 03:11 PM

Perhaps Mr. Polier realized that selling even a rumor to the tabloids was
reprehensible. Maybe there WAS an affair, but the daughter felt (correctly)
that it was nobody's business but hers, and threatened to cut off all
contact with her parents if they said another word about it. Maybe Mrs
Polier told her husband that if he kept talking, and it resulted in their
having to move to Antarctica to find some privacy from the press, she'd
either divorce him or kill him.

Maybe maybe maybe...... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz................
