Anyoneusing heavier Fireline?

Anyone using the heavier Berkley Fireline with good results? I've used the
light stuff and it seems okay until your reel packs up and then you have to
cut the stuff to get to unsnarled line. How about the heavier Fireline? Same
problems?

I don't either myself. Don't care for it. Tends to pack down and
it's a bitch to cut close to the knot - not to mention cutting your
fingers once in a while.

I much prefer Ande line in the heavier monofilament.

Easier to tie also.

I don't use Fireline, either. I just can't seem to get used to it, too
many years fishing with mono, I guess.

I use Fireline exclusively now, for my conventional and spin reels. I

like the ability to feel even the smallest nibble. I first used the

line
in Florida when I was trying to catch sheepshead off the Jax jetties

in
Mayport. It made a difference, because the sneaky devils have a

really
light bite.

One of the best tasting fish in Florida waters.

I just can't get used to it. I'm not used to the way it casts, and
feels. I've still got in on a couple of striper rigs, but for slack
lined type of bass fishing, I can't get used to it.

I use the 30 lb, not crazy about it compared to the others, but the 30 lb
does not seem to back up too much, but I am careful not to free-spool the
stuff. I troll only with it so it really does not get much of a chance to
back-lash.

I've had no problems trolling the 50lb stuff, although I use 80lb monofilament
for leaders so I don't cut my fingers off!

I have not used Fireline in a couple of years. The last batch just seemed
to lose strength and started breaking on any sharp fish set. I use Power
Pro on my spectra set ups and it does very well. I use 50/12 on my salmon
trolling rods. The stuff will slice through a jelly fish and not get hung
up in them like the mono. for Rock Cod, the braids allow you to fell the
bite and get the fish away from the rocks and on the way to the frying pan.
