Need new Mercruiser motor
 

I have a 90's boat with a 5L motor...

The motor has been abused by previous owners, so I think replacing it is the
only way to go.

What can I expect to find for a good used motor or new motor to replace it?

www.dougrussell.com has a sale on new bobtail mercruiser now. I just bought
a new Kodiak 350 mpi for my jet boat and it was more expensive, but was
closer and had fresh water cooling.

Where do you live? Up here, Doug Russell up in Shrewsbury, MA is a
replacement engines distributor, but if you live in East Camel Toe,
WA, it's going to cost you to ship it.

Give Russell's a call though - I think he's trying to get rid of some
older engines and purchased overstock.

but for the life of me; I can't figure out why a marine motor costs 3x what an
auto motor costs.

I just paid $7300 for a new bobtail (complete, ready to run) Kodiak 5.7L
with Bosch MPI injection. 328 HP.
