forgot fuel stabilizer
 

If I forgot to add fuel stablizer in my fuel tank, can i go back and add it
to the tank after the gas is already in the tank?
Is there a right or wrong way to add stablizer after the fact? Can I add the
stabilzer to a little gass and put it in the tank? Will it mix up properly?
How long will it take for the fuel to go bad and turn to varnish in the
carb? I usually add stabilizer to all my fuel, I guess i had a brain gap
that day.

Add it to as much gas as you can (a 5 gallon can would be nice if
possible) OR... if you plan to use your boat in the next couple
weeks... wait until you use it... a couple weeks won't matter.. Then,
as the other poster said... let it mix and then run the engine to get
the stab in the carb or injectors... BTW... if the tanks are dual ported
for return fuel (Fuel injected), running the engine will help mix it.

Get some gas Pri and add to your gas. Would not hurt to add as much gas as
possible.

Yes, you can. But it might be too late if you take into consideration
that gasoline has a "shelf life" of about 30 days.

You might be best redoing your entire winterizing procedure, or just
going straight ahead with an early spring start up procedure. It's
March 13th, so you would probably be up and running, normally, in
another month at least, or sooner.

My boat's in the laneway on a trailer. If it was me, and I was really
concerned, I could siphon off most of the gas into my jeep a few gallons at
a time and burn it off that way, and then top up the boat with fresh gas and
stabilizer (also helps clean the carb I understand) in the spring. If I
wasn't concerned (which I wouldn't be), I'd add the stabilizer now, and
shake the boat around a bit on the trailer before starting it up (with muffs
in the laneway) this spring. Ok ,,, there's old fuel in the fuel line but
since I'm carburated (4 bbl) I am not that concerned ... if I idled for
awhile, the non-stabilized fuel would only be running through the idle jets.

Thanks to all. The gas hasn't been in the tank but a few weeks and I will be
in the water in another couple to three weeks.
I may try to add some and mix it up and run it through best i can before i
head to the water. I guess doing something is better than nothing at
all...thanks again for the input....tcoop
