fishing boat
 

New to the group. I am basically a fresh water fisherman who enjoys
the salt a few times a year. I sold a bass boat last fall. Now I have
the opportunity to buy a (used)16' 4" True World center console. My
wish is to keep it in a slip here in Lake Hopatcong and occaisonally
trail it to the Jersey shore to the bay. My question is: do you think
this is advisable? Is it practical to think I can have the best of
both worlds, my bass and musky fishing up north in fresh water and
also down in the bay. I realize this is not a large boat. Just
wondering if anyone has some experience with this type of boat.

As long as you keep it reasonable, don't venture to far in any one
direction from the launch ramp, keep a weather eye out and don't
hesitate to head back even if you think the wx is turning, then fine -
you should be fine inshore. Make sure you have a GPS of some sort and
the appropriate charts.

As to having a boat to do both, I do much the same when I'm fishing
inshore or sweet water - I have a 20 Ft 200C Ranger that is mostly
fresh water, but occasionally, I use it to stay inshore or if the
weather looks iffy. The Ranger this is much more amenable to that
than the Contender 31.

I don't know anything about a True World boat. Sorry.
