Chantilly (VA) Boat Show
We went to the Chantilly Boat Show last night at the Dulles Expo Center
near Dulles Airport and didn't come away very impressed. One of my main goals was to hopefully get a look at the new Crownline open-bow boat - either model 315 or 316, I don't remember what our salesperson at Shy Beaver (James Creek, PA) said. Anyway, there was only ONE Crownline dealer at Chantilly and he didn't have anything over 25' at the show and stated he would probably not even order a 315/316 unless it was a specific customer order. He then proceeded to (lightly) pressure me into ordering one. Fat chance ! Lots of nice ski boats there - the wife really liked the 25' Malibu. Nice floor design, plenty of motor (425hp 8.1L Vortec), and awesome music - 13 speaker system. -- G.D.Smith Harpers Ferry, WV FOR SALE: 2003 Swee****er 22' Pontoon Boat http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/gs_pontoon01.html FOR SALE: 1999 Fleetwood Mallard 37' Travel Trailer http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/Mallard001.html |

If you want to compare shows for those of us "ordinary people" (less than millionaires), Toronto has the best IMHO |

If you want to compare shows for those of us "ordinary people" (less than millionaires), Toronto has the best IMHO Never been to a Toronto boat show. The best I have been to in recent years have been in Annapolis and in Miami. Lots of boats for every wallet at both shows. The Miami show is overwhelming. Best boat babes, too. 2nd week in January -- at the Canadian National Expo Site. At the moment your $1 is worth $1.30 or so Canadian -- who knows about next year. 2 years ago I went to an Ikea store in Hamelton (with an American Catalog) and they charged me American prices, but still gave me the exchange rate -- AND since my purchases were less than $500 the customs people waved me through. Helps that I can drive to Toronto in about 4 hours. |

I'm going to try it this year. 24th Annual Bay Bridge Show Bay Bridge Marina Kent Island, MD April 21 - 24, 2005 More info at: http://www.usboat.com/baybridge/information.htm Thanks for the info on the Chantilly show. I'd decided not to waste the time. Now I'm glad I did. My Marina, Harbor Cove in Deale, was supposed to have some Anglers there. Did you look at them by any chance? -- John H "All decisions are the result of binary thinking." |

We usually go to the Annapolis show (hate parking at USNA and getting shuttled !) but I've never seen/heard of the Bay Bridge show. We might have to check it out! Travel Channel had their Top 10 Florida 'spots' this past week and the Miami show was mentioned (don't remember what number) so we've added it to our calendar as a possible trip next winter. Only 341 more days til it starts (16 Feb). Only thing I know about "Anglers" is that they catch fish :) I am thinking that you are referring to a certain type/brand of boat. Do you have a website? -- G.D.Smith Harpers Ferry, WV FOR SALE: 2003 Swee****er 22' Pontoon Boat http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/gs_pontoon01.html FOR SALE: 1999 Fleetwood Mallard 37' Travel Trailer http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/Mallard001.html |

Yeah, he http://www.anglerboats.com/ I'm not all that wild about the boats, but then I know little about them. The manager at the marina says he'll give me a break on storage fees if I buy one from him. I haven't done it though. I thought maybe you'd seen them and had an opinion. "'""'which is 2nd rate, at best.'""""' lol,,,krause,,,, looks like you and the boat show have something in common there krause,,,, Lets just ask your first and second wife,,,, and in the future we can ask your third wife,,, the little darling,,, 20 years your junior,,, Now if the first two wives re-married,, you could be 3rd or 4th rate,,,,,, at best,,, lol,,,, I guessing they turned lesbian,,, or joined the school of nuns. Until your children ran to them of course,, as you claimed in one of your posts... "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... I go to about 100 boat shows a year, and this one falls about right in the middle. I was asked to promote it one year (given my sucess running previous boat shows), but had to turn it down, as I was sailing around Australlia that week. |

Thanks for the Anglerboats info. No, we don't fish. We're recreational boaters and most of our time is spent skiing, tubing, or just plain cruising at Raystown Lake in PA. We've also done Deep Creek Lake in Western MD. Last year we even towed the Baja up to Lake Erie to spend some time w/ my brother's family - great trip. We've only been on The Bay once and it was 'ok'. -- G.D.Smith Harpers Ferry, WV FOR SALE: 2003 Swee****er 22' Pontoon Boat http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/gs_pontoon01.html FOR SALE: 1999 Fleetwood Mallard 37' Travel Trailer http://icanhelp56.homestead.com/Mallard001.html |
