Default WEll I did it!

Today my Ship came in

for several years I have wanted to participate in the NYS Barge Canal
Flotilla, but it just wouldn't work with a sailboat, So now I own 7
boats (counting inflatables 3) dingys 1, OB 1, sailboat 1, and now a 22'
Crestliner cruiser with a BIG V8 engine (just in time for the price of
gas to increase).

The boat is an 81, and in good shape for it's age with 1 (sorta minor,
but I'd like to fix it) exception.

the front hatch is broken where it meets one of the hinges. It looks
like some sort of composite material, and someone before me tried to
glue it unsuccessfully.

I'd like to replace the hatch cover, but Crestliner (as far as I can
find with a quick Goggle) no longer makes boats of this nature

Yes I could probably make a new one, or buy a whole new hatch, but I'm a
cheap SOB, and would like to find just the cover.

Any suggestions as to good places to look?

Congratulations! Any possibility of posting a picture of the hatch cover. Did
you contact Crestliner? When I had a bent bow rail the Proline folks didn't
carry any more, but they were able to tell me who manufactured it. Perhaps you
could call them and get an old one cheap.

Congratulations. Your fleet is now officially larger than Canada's. ;-)

Well, he will need a few more as Canada has 34 ships in their Maritime
Command Group.

You won't know what to do with all the extra time on your hands now.

A sailboat works in the NYS Canal system just fine, as long as you step the
mast and have mechanical power. The Crestliner sounds like fun, but that
big V8 won't help you in the canal with the speed limit they have (unless
you are Canadian and don't care).

We did the State sponsored Canal Cruise and Trek a few years ago. Its a
nice trip for some people, as long as you don't mind having drunk people
stumble over your boat to get to theirs rafted to the dock. That wasn't our
cup of tea, so we bailed out and went the other way after a few days. Had a
lot more fun.

Overall, the NY State Canals make for beautiful, peaceful, interesting
cruising. Can't wait to go back.
