Retrofit Crank Mounted Raw Water Pump on Mercruiser?

Greetings,

My boat has twin, inboard Mercruiser's (350CID) with the Bravo-style
raw water pump. The location of the pumps, along with their design,
makes replacing the raw water impellers an absolute nightmare!! I
have to remove the pumps completely from the engine, but just getting
to the pumps themselves requires bending and twisting not meant for
the human body!!

My previous boat had a Volvo powerplant, with its convenient, crank
mounted water pump. Being that most of the manufacturers use a Chevy
block, can I replace the current Bravo pump with a crank mounted pump?

Thanks!

You can swap it out if you're willing to replumb for the crank mounted pump.
There are also cam mounted pumps from aftermarket suppliers. You need a
special timing cover for them. Anyway you can pump raw water into the
system is fine, doesn't matter what kind of engine it is. A used boat parts
supplier would be the place to look. Buying all the pieces new will be
outrageous, particularly times two.

I had a 26' Catilina with the same set up. Darn good setups.
