Which Truck to haul boat?

I'm in the market for a new 3/4 ton truck. I had been favoring the
Dodge2500 but the new Ford looks pretty damn good. Never really been a fan
of Chevy.
Anbody have one of the newer 3/4 ton trucks? The main use of the truck will
be to haul my 78 Bayliner Saratoga - one heavy ass boat.

I traded a 2003 Ford F-250 6 liter diesel for a 2000 F-250 7.3 liter
diesel if that tells you anything. The specs look good, but it
doesn't haul worth a damn. And the newer truck leaked like a sieve.
I wasn't pleased with all the oil, tranny and engine, on the driveway.
The kicker was when the oil filter came loose - I was REALLY impressed
with that one.

I know some folks with the Dodge and they seem pleased with them as
well as a couple of guys who have the 3/4 ton Chevy with the Vortec
V-8s.

150,000 miles on my 2000 Ford F250 4x4 Superduty 7.3 PSD.
I drive it all over creation and am really pleased...no real major
f-ups...fuel pump, pinion seal, balls joints. Kinda expect those things with
the amount I drive.
I have a SuperChips Micro Tuner (and gauges) and you can't even tell the
Baja is back there.
The Duramax is an Isuzu joke.
The Dodge is OK (the Cummins is a great engine but the rest of the package
blows).

I've owned both Ford and Dodge 1 ton duallies. My preference of the two is
the Dodge. You'll get more features for the cash that you lay out, and my
Dodge had a lot more "umph" to it than the Ford did.

I noticed that you are looking for a 3/4 ton. Do you just not want the dual
rear wheels or is it another reason? Up until lately the Dodge 1 ton was not
available without dual rear wheels, but it is available again now with the
single rear wheels. Not a bad choice. Their 3/4 ton is pretty strong, too.

My only recommendation if you decide to go with a Dodge is to stay away from
the V10 unless you've got unlimited cash to purchase gas. Mine got an
average of 7 to 8 MPG around town, and about 9 or 10 on the highway. It was
incredibly strong, though. Especially when compared to Ford's V10. You
wouldn't even feel your boat behind my 1 ton with the V10.

I'll be honest - the only reason that I bought the V10 instead of the diesel
was because my ex-wife "didn't like the smell and they're too noisy." My
mistake, I should've got rid of her before I bought the truck.

Okay, but what did she think of the truck?

She loved the truck. She was happy that I didn't get the diesel. Maybe she
should've gotten a job to help pay for the gas, she might have had a
different opinion on her choice.

My wife holds a similar opinion of my farts.
