In many cities the union workers at the exhibit halls are nothing more than
crooks. You cannot plug in your electrical cord on your display to the
outlet next to you...a union electrician must do the job and you pay for
his/her time.

Want something moved? Better not do it yourself or you will be fined....the
union laborer has to do it and at union pay.....again you pay.

Perhaps the greed is not only with the city. In the end the public and the
exhibitors get the screw job.

oh well, maybe if the city starts sharing all that money with the people
who
actually work at the show, they won't have this problem.

For those of you wanting to attend the Vancouver, BC boat show, at BC

Place
Stadium, it could be canceled :-(

http://vancouver.cbc.ca/regional/ser...t-show20050207

It's a great show, if anyone can attend it. And well worth the admission
cost. Hopefully, it will still go ahead.

The article says:

Waddell said that the recreational boating industry generates
approximately $1.4 billion annually for the B.C. economy, and
employs nearly 15,000 full-time workers. She said the show
is important because B.C.'s boating industry is spread throughout
the province. "They come from all over to view products and
see dealers, who are all in one place."

Well, that's because there's only one place on earth that there can be
a boat show of any interest, and that's only accessible if you live in
Naples, FL, right NOYB?

Harry,
Did you really say all of those things to Tuuk's internet provider? If so,
then hopefully you didn't also call a branch of law enforcement and tell
them all of that. Using somebody else's name to post to Usenet is probably
not a crime that they'd care about...but filing a false report probably is
one that would get their attention.

The Miami show isn't threatened by a union strike.

I've never called Tuuu,,,,k's ISP.

Further, the standard way to file a complaint about "spoofing" is to
submit one of the offending posts with complete headers. Anyone who looks
at the headers of Tuuu,,,,k's posts will see the address of his news
posting server and the name of his ISP. Both are different from mine.
Tuuu,,,,k does spoof my online name ID.

And, further, there would be no reason for me to convince an ISP that many
of Tuuu,,,,k's posts *were* threatening towards me. His posts speak for
themselves.

Our newsgroup pedicab puller/sushi delivery boy certainly seems to be
reacting strongly to whatever message he got from his ISP, though, eh?

He's a little bit out there, yes. Some of it's pretty funny though.

You have to be a bit empathetic with workers earning 9-10 USD an hour
and hoping to merely keep abreast of inflation. Quite a bit different
than the boat shows that unions screwed up on the east coast- there
were some shows at one time where as an exhibitor you were prohibited
from unpacking and setting up your own display.......(had to call in

a
$100 minimum Teamster). Once you had your booth erected, you were

I am pretty sure these guys make NO LESS than $25 the hour anf ro
working on sunday its triple overtime and such .... You dont have to
feel too sorry.

And I wouldnt be surprised if they had the same "milk you" mentality.
