AOL Newsgroups

Since AOL is about to disengage itself from the newsgroups I thought I
would try it through Google so this is my first post from Google. Will
see if it posts.

76 days to go..

It posts. Good riddance to AOL.

How about disengaging from the real problem (which is AOL) instead?

By far the best answer is to disengage yourself from AOL. There are far
better choices for internet access.

I've always liked Earthlink.

My opinion.

I use Cox. Great service, few outages, very fast.

Here's the results of a speed test about two minutes ago:

2005-01-30 12:43:15 EST: 4398 / 506
Your download speed : 4503694 bps, or 4398 kbps.
A 549.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 518224 bps, or 506 kbps.

Can't complain about that.

Just follow the instructions posted below. It will get you to Google although I
don't like the set up there I have not yet found a way to delete postings that
I have already read which AOL does automaticly. Oh Well.

75 days to go..

Please Note: The AOL Newsgroup service will be discontinued in early 2005.

For members using AOL over a dial-up connection, you will no longer be able to
access Newsgroups. If you have a separate high-speed connection, you can
contact your broadband provider to see if they offer Newsgroups. Newsgroup
services can often be accessed through a third party reader, such as Mozilla
Thunderbird (
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/).

Alternatively, you can access Newsgroups via Google at
http://groups.google.com/.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

JohnH,
What speed test did you use?

Just click the 'Start' button under 'Test your broadband'. I didn't
register or anything.
