The Konservatives who Kontrol Amerika are afraid that if we travel to Havana and see that it isn't such a bad place, and that Cubans are decent people, and that the country itself is beautiful, and that the Cubans, like some people everywhere, are saddled with a lunatic for a leader, they might force out government to normalize relations. Hell, in terms of death count, I'll bet Dubya has outdown Fidel, and Fidel has been around for about 40 years. Interesting perspective there Harry. The US embargo on Cuba has existed for over 44 years and has been enforced by many administrations, Republican and Democratic. In fact, the embargo has been modified over the years with some of the most severe constraints imposed during the Kennedy administration when all travel and commercial transactions were made illegal for U.S. citizens. This is not Bush's doings, however I personally agree that it is time to re-examine our policy and eliminate most, if not all of the embargo provisions. Eisboch |
