Default Winter Boat Shows

Anyone planning to attend any of the upcoming winter boat shows? The Detroit
Show is next month and I plan to be there to check out the new boats and other
nautical stuff. I would also like to go to the Cleveland show this month but I
do not think I will be able to fit it into my schedule.

No new boat purchase planned but that option is always open.

I guess you could say I'll "attend" the local boat show.

Our magazine has a booth, and I will be one of the two people there all
day, most days.

Our local show has a continuous series of seminars, and I've been asked
to conduct four of them this year. That will get me out of the booth
for some much needed diversion.

The fun part about the boat show is getting everybody together. I am
acquainted with, and in some cases friends with, a high percentage of
the vendors and dealers. Even though its a long hour ordeal for ten
days (one of the longer shows around), we all seem to enjoy a friendly
"Hello, how ya doin'?" sort of conversation sometime during the event.

The Boat Show is sort of like having the kids home for a visit. You
really look forward to it, it wears you out while it's going on, the
day after i'ts over you wonder whether the hassle was worth it, but by
the time a year goes by you're looking forward to it again. :-)

Yeah, my marina just sent a notice about it, along with the bill for the
deposit for the slip. ;-)
At least they didn't jack up the price again (of course with almost have of
it empty last year, it would have been tough for them to do)

I was planning to fly up to Toronto to attend the biggest show in Canada.
I've been called for jury duty this month so I'll have to be satisfied with
the Halifax International Boat Show in February. Trouble is..it's a
fraction of the size of Toronto's show

I'll check out the DC boat show. It's in the new convention center this
year...but I do need a boat show fix before March...

I enjoyed myself at the San Diego Boat Show yesterday. I'm not in the market
for a boat, but the boat show and the car show are my entertainment.

The San Francisco show starts Weds. The Fred Hall folks took over the old
SF sports and boat show. The problem with the old SF show was that it ran
2 weeks. Only the big yacht dealers were displaying. No smaller
operations. they were going to the less than a week show. The long shows,
meant you basically shut down your retail operation for the length of the
show plus a couple of days to move all the stuff. And I think the 5 day
show sells as much as a 10 day show. But I still like the shows. Only
going to 2 this year, as will be out of the country when most are on tap.

My wife and I will be going to the Cleveland Boat Show later this month.
Our old marina still sends us complimentary tickets for the VIP showing on
Friday.
