Yikes indeed!

It's 7am right now, so the temp is at the "low" at about 6C. Yesterday was
beautiful: sunny, 10C, ... Gotta get out in a boat!

How far is the sunshine coast from Victoria? Thinking of a camping /
fishing trip to Vancouver Island this coming summer. Cambell river and
Tovino / Uculet areas.

Hi Bill:
You could not have picked any more beautiful area to take your
camping/fishing trip than Vancouver Island.

How many days do you have for your trip? There are so many things to see
and do on the Island that a trip up to the Sunshine Coast may be just too
far.

The Pacific Rim area of Vancouver Island is just spectacular! Tofino and
Ucluelet are lovely.

Unless you have lots of time, like several weeks, then my advice is to stay
on the Island.

Check this out. www.vancouverisland.com/towns.html this will give you
the milages and some explainations of "whats there"

I have been to Vancouver Island before, but not for a lot of years. We took
the ferry boat to Prince Rupert in about 1971. Have only seen the mainland
side of the island. Taking the Truck with camper and I think the Jetcraft
boat. Probably 4-5 weeks. Semi-retired is nice. Take 4-5 days each way to
Canada. From San Francisco area. Visit friends in Portland and Salem, OR
as well as wife's relative in Seattle.

Basically, the Sunshine Coast is the other side of Georgia Strait from
Nanaimo. Victoria is farther south. You might want to consider one of BC
Ferries' "Circle Tours" - you start on the Mainland, go to Victoria, north
up the Island, then across to the Sunshine Coast and back south.

Strathcona park is nice toward the north, Campbell River area. Or if
you're adventurous, Cape Scott Park at the northern tip ( )

But be sure to check out "WCVI" (West Coast Vancouver Island)!

Thanks. I was thinking the Sunshine Coast was on the mainland. Have not
been to Cambell River since the early 1970's.

-33 C (-27 F) when I woke up this morning, but it's up to a steamy -28 C
(-18 F) now. My wind meter is frozen, but there is breeze (I think the
weather network said "-45 C" with windchill which converts to "too f'ing
cold for words" in Farenheit). But it is sunny.
