Hi Bill:

This is a piece of Comical Satire. That's what that newspaper man does
every day. In other words.....It's a joke.

Jim, left-coast-nutter billie is a tad shy in the gray matter dept. such
people nearly always have literal minds (concepts are
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond them), and thus have to have jokes
explained to them.

Pot meet kettle - you may now produce a black pan.

Makes as much sense as the articles posted by basskisser, Harry, etc.
Sounds like his opinion written with humor.

Don't get too excited Bill. In oil rich Alberta, there has always been a
sizable minority of wanna-be Americans.
aka 'Little Houston'. When the oil money dries up, they'll be the first
ones back to the trough.

What do you expect: the guy's from CALGARY! ;)

But loved his line:
"And frankly, I don't know if we can afford to feed Michael Moore."

BTW: did you know Michaal Moore wrote Canadian Bacon?

I'll bet he's eaten a lot of it too.

Speaking of Canada, how's the hockey season going?

All the teams still undefeated?

Actually, this evening I had some very nice Brunello I brought back from
Montalcino. Mom's 90th birthday party, so brought out the special stuff.

I've always wondered about this - maybe in the end, when all is said
and done, they won't have any and we'll have it all. :)

Actually, I was reading something a while back about evidence that the
oil fields, as such, are slowly recovering or cooking somehow, new
oil.

I'll have to look that one up again.

Tom

Good for her. My mother hit 90 on Nov 05 this year.
Just after that she had the catarac surgery on her 2nd eye. (1st done in
Sept).
Now that she can see clearly again, she seems better than ever.

We'll still have the 'tar sands'. More expensive to recover oil from...but
at least we won't freeze in the dark.

Maybe she made 90 because she did not ever drink the whole bottle. And she
still works 1 day a week as an RN.

Could be.

My wife's Aunt is 92 and still works as an RN doing local blood
drives. She doesn't do any sticks anymore, but she does all the prep
work, monitors the donors and to tell the truth, it wouldn't surprise
me if she could still do a decent stick.

My mom is the charge nurse at a convalescent home. Takes care of the old
people of 60-70.

RGrew176 December 11th 04 02:46 AM

This thread reminds me of my Grandfather. When he was 97 and still working at a
McDonalds of all places his girlfriend was 72. They would not let him drive any
more so she was his wheels.

He missed 100 by a couple of months. Been gone since 95. I still think of all
the history of this country he lived through. Wow. I am 55 now and would love
to be like he was at that age but I would be happy to hit 75 and still be
active.

Who knows? Time will tell.

126 days to go..

Working at 97?? maybe that's what keeps you going...a job and a much
younger woman.
I gotta get me both.
