Great Garmin GPS Source

I have read a number of posts regarding excellent customer service from
companies such as Bennett and Garmin. I wanted to let everyone know of a great
retailer of Garmin products. I first learned of these folks when I saved $50.00
on my GPSMap76 on one of their eBay auctions. This Christmas, I wanted to get a
GPS for the little woman for her biking trips. The eTrex Legend seemed to fit
the bill. I checked GPS World and they had a good price as well as a free
MapSource CD. I ordered that, the carrying case, and the handlebar mount back
on the 18th of December (I know, last minute...). I requested, and paid for, 3
day UPS for $11.00 so I could have it by Christmas. They sent me an email on
the 18th indicating that the unit was backordered. I sent them a reply
requesting Ground shipment so I could give it to her for her birthday next month
instead.

Evidently the shipment arrived to them on the 22nd. THEY paid for Next Day Air
and it was on my doorstep the 24th.

I am only a customer. I have nothing to do with this company. Just give them a
look the next time you are shopping for any Garmin products - including
fishfinders. They also have some reconditioned products but I have never tried
them.

Great Garmin GPS Source

Dan,

Good tip, thanks. I'm not in the market for a gps at the moment, but
the new GPSMAP 60C and 60CS coming out in Q1 sound pretty nice. I have
both a Legend and Venture and they're good units. I've had no problems
with the Legend but have with the click stick and display on the
Venture. Garmin 'repaired'* the unit promptly each time. The display
is again flaky, but a slight rap on the unit and it's back. Unit is
long out of warranty now, but the point of this is that if you haven't
gotten that extended warranty, you might want to consider it. Normally
I don't consider extended warranties(sp) worthwhile, but for $20 on this
unit, I would seriously consider it.

* Garmin calls it a repair and lists the problems 'fixed', but from
my experiences and what I've seen written by others is that they really
send you a new unit.
