A better way to veiw this site

It's hard to respect a darn thing from anybody whose only contribution *to* the group is a list of subjects or people he deems unworthy. Pretty soon this group of people who only post, "This is the list of people I think are schidt heads" will only see one anothers' posts here. |

I'd think it would be simpler for him to quietly filter & ignore the OT activities. With the boats covered for winter, we deserve a little fun. |

I don't believe (contrary to what Sterling thinks) I've ever started an OT thread. Replied to yes, started no. Oh, wait you can't see this. ;-) Capt. Bill |

My kids flew in from NY last week for the holidays and we enjoyed several nice excursions to the near by tropical beaches. Water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico has dropped quite a bit however. It is now down to 73 degrees. That may sound warm to a Canadian but it's downright chilly compared to mid-summer 90 degrees. |

I bought my second sailboat in Clearwater in march 86 or so, and went wading in Miami a few days before. The water was so warm! The hookers and pimps in their fur coats at the motel breakfast bar where we had parked our camper van thought my wife and I were scandalously underdressed in our t shirts, shorts and flip flops. They all seemed to know that we were Maple Slurpers. Perhaps it was our license plates? I am now so depressed that I must go see if the snow has burst the tarp on my boat in the back yard, yet... Maybe I'll put on my parka, go sweep it off and make a log entry. *SOB!* How much would a little shack in Florida cost to buy? Say, just a little bigger than an ice fishing hut? Terry K |
Great job Sherlock.
I didnt claim to be a virgin. No you didn't. You simply stated "I don't post off topic". My point is that "don't" is rather absolute. You could accurately state, "I post on topic far more often than off." You do a better job of following the rules than most, as I acknowledged. |

I thought it might be a good time of year to share how to make this site more enjoyable if all the off topic stuff is ruining it for you. Here is how I set up my message rules in MS Outlook Express. This isn't a "site," and anyone clueless enough to use Outlook deserves all the pain the recieve. Dan -- Microsoft Haiku #163 A crash reduces Your expensive computer To a simple stone. |

"Ron White" wrote in message ... [snip] Right on Ron! I've been doing this for quite sometime with Outlook, and I love it! One other good method for adding trolls and OT posters, is with that message highlighted, go to "Message" on the top tool bar, then click "Block Sender". Outlook will them prompt you to confirm your action, and as an added bonus, remove ALL messages from that sender...never to be seen again. I like Outlooks kill file because it permanently deletes the messages...I absolutely NEVER see them. The only downside (which is probably true with all kill files) are the clowns who keep changing their names/emails. The Klass Klown Krause is one of those idiots...I have about 6 entries for him, but its no big deal. Later. -- -Netsock "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.columbus.rr.com/ckg/ |

Most large signs were blown out, and many buildings had mild damage. I hear that some insurance companies are trying to weasel out of paying storm damage claims. I can only hope that the people effected have their claims settled quickly and they can get their lives back together soon. Dave |

About three years ago, my wife and I drove through Central Alabama on our way back home after a visit to friends in New Orleans. I was amazed that damage from Hurricane Camille (sp?) was still evident almost forty years after. On the other hand, I was in Belize last year on a bone fishing trip and you'd never know a hurricane went throuh there six months earlier. Later, Tom |

You can imagine how the mobile home parks and wood frame buildings fared. Fifteen miles inland on I-75 there is a ten mile stretch where virtually every sign and light pole is blown down. That's the same area where 5 consecutive 18 wheelers were blown over on their side during the storm. As a little engineering excercise I calculated what the side load on my trawler would be in an 80 knot wind. Depending on the assumptions it works out to be about 100,000 pounds, which is roughly the same force that the capsized trucks encountered. |
