Golf cart batteries used for trolling motor

How do golf cart batteries work for use as trolling motor batteries? I
sometimes go fishing for several days where there is no electricity to
charge my TM batteries and I need maximum amp-hour rating. Two 6V golf cart
batteries in series provide more amp-hours than two 12V deep cycle marine
batteries in parallel. They also cost a litttle less. Will golf cart
batteries take the pounding a trolling motor gets? Thanks in advance for
any help you can give.

===========================================

Golf cart batteries are excellent. They are designed for deep cycle
service and will outlast most 12 volt batteries by a wide margin. For
best service life avoid discharging all the way to dead flat, and
recharge as soon as you can. For what it's worth, Walmart sells a
nice 35 amp 3-stage charger for about $70.

There are lots of cruisers who use golf cart batteries for their house bank.
They are designed specifically for the constant discharge-recharge life
cycle, and do get bounced around a bit in normal usage. An added advantage
is the lighter unit weight - a plus for some of us as we get ... ahem ...
more senior.

Plus, a pair of 2400, 6 volt batteries in series have more amp hour capacity
than a single 8D 12 volt battery.
