Powell and Rice haven't stepped down. I suspect Powell will still be
around, perhaps as DefSec if Rumsfeld "steps down".

Nevertheless, it's common to have a large turnover within the Presidents
cabinet after an election.

After his '96 election, Clinton changed almost 60% of his Cabinet,
including:

Defense Secretary
Secretary of State
Secretary of Commerce (actually, he had the Sec of Commerce killed in
April of '96)
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of HUD
Secretary of Transportation.
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Veterans Affairs

Clinton also had 3 different Secretaries of Treasury, but didn't change
*immediately* following the '96 election.

History shows that you can't read anything important into Cabinet changes.

Oops...forgot to mention:

Clinton also changed his NSA after the '96 election...and went through 4
different Chiefs of Staff

Oh, but to change the team that's attacking terrorism would be a mistake
according to Mr. Cheney.

Sounds like the team is dismantling itself.

Hopefully Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz will be among them.

Gould,
It is very common for cabinet members to change after the first term, so
what is your point?

Is it common for so many to announce within 72 hours of the election?

My post wasn't intended as a conclusion, merely an observation. We may be going
to "stay the course", but if so it will be with
a substantially different crew.

Wally, you win. Anybody can plainly see that. The score is so far in your favor
I have no chance ever to catch up.

"Smart ass two line personal insult posts devoid of thought or content":

Wally 5,691
Gould 5 or 6

I guess you're just a long way out of my league, dude. One of your high five
buddies insists that I learn to be a good "loser", so I'll start by
acknowledging that I've never even been in the race with a few of you guys
posting sh*t like the remark referenced above.

Nice to be an undisputed leader in some category, isn't it?

You want some more of this? Just keep looking for me on a personal basis in the
NG and from time to time you'll find it.
I often don't respond to mosquitos or other minor nuisances, and I don't seek
them out to start a ****ing contest. How dreary life would be if the only thing
on something
substituting for a mind turned out to be goofy little two-line insults crapped
into cyber space without provocation.

As it usually is in a second term.

So what you're saying is that, Bush & Cheney are now modeling their
managerial style after Clinton, and that you approve?
