Kerry - "We must find a common cause..." OT

This was said during the same event during which Edwards said, "This
fight has just begun," and during which Kerry said, "I will never stop
fighting for you."

Why all the *fighting* talk if togetherness and a 'coming together' is
what they want?

On the 'PocoLoco' out of Deale, MD,
on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay!

I also find it strange that the left is demanding Bush pull everyone
together, with nothing being said about a need for them to change their
attitude and agenda to better fit in with the majority. Last I checked the
majority of the Country that said they believed the way Bush was running the
country was the right way...not the other way around. Yes, Bush will gain
reach out across the aisle as he did during the start of his first term.

What seems to be missing is the realization that the other side also has to
start changing their thinking if a union of the people will ever happen.
However, based on the negative and hateful posts I am reading here from
those on the left, this appears to be only a dream.

Negative and hateful from people on the left? I've been posting about
the need for all of us to try hard to see the "other" sides views and not
just assume they are all stupid etc. Many of the posts in response from
the right have been in the tone & vein of: Who cares about those
that aren't with us. Ship them off to an island. Let them move to
Canada or France. They are all out of touch with reality.

I totally agree that BOTH sides need to make an effort to identify the
things we have in common and to work with those that disagree to
find solutions that work. We also need to SEE and UNDERSTAND
how and why the "other" side thinks and feels as they do. I'm sure
that "we" are not right on everything and "they" are not wrong on
everything. ~ I also agree that there are people on all sides that
are very negative and who won't try in the least for real unity.

But why to you, Jim, only point on the negativity and hateful
posts "on the left." Don't you see there are at least as many
doing that from the right here? Or do you want to divide
people?

Perhaps some, but certainly not many. However I can see *many* hateful and
negative posts from the left here each and every day, most especially today
when we are asking to come together.

As I said before I believe the onus is on the left. This vote showed that
people are tired of the same old liberal tactics and beliefs, with a
majority voting for the republican ideals.

But why to you, Jim, only point on the negativity and hateful

Nope. The hateful and negative posts are coming from the left, especially
today.

Ouch. I did not know that Gary posted like that.

I failed to make a perhaps important distinction. Those are not excerpts
from posts, they are the entire content of those posts. Personally, I don't
have a problem with such posts, per se. That is, until the poster tries to
make himself out to be Albert Shweitzer, Ghandi, and Henry Kissinger, all
rolled up into one.

Albert Schweitzer - one my heros.

One of the great quotes of all time:

"When in the spring the withered gray of the fields gives way to a
carpet of green, this is because millions of shoots are springing up
anew from the roots. Our age must achieve spiritual renewal. It can do
so only in one way: the masses of the people must reflect upon the
nature of true goodness. Out of such reflection, new principles and
ideas will inevitably arise. As the trees bear the same fruit anew
year after year, so from generation to generation all worthwhile ideas
must be born anew in the thinking of mankind."

Ghandi,

Which one - Mahatma or Indira? :)

and Henry Kissinger, all rolled up into one.

Courtesy of Eric Idle, "Monty Python":

Henry Kissinger
How I'm missing yer
You're the Doctor of my dreams,
With your crinkly hair and your glassy stare
And your Machiavellian schemes
I know they say that you are very vain,
And short and fat and pushy
but at least you're not insane.
Henry Kissinger
How I'm missing yer
and wishing you were here

Henry Kissinger
How I'm missing yer
You're so chubby and so neat
With your funny clothes and your squishy nose
You're like a German par-a-keet
Alright so people say that you don't care
But you've got nicer legs than Hitler,
And bigger tits than Cher
Henry Kissinger
How I'm missing yer
and wishing you were here

All the best,

Tom

Very nice. I, on the other hand, am reminded of another quote, taken from
an episode from the old Dick Van Dyke Show. Rob Petrie and his friend Jerry
live next door to one another. Their kids have walkie talkies and talk to
one another from one house to another. One day the kids forget to turn off
their communication devices and Rob overhears his friend Jerry talking to
his wife about the Petries. Jerry expresses some honest criticisms of Rob's
human shortcomings and concludes by saying, "Well, he's certainly no Albert
Schweitzer."

Have you watched *any* news today? The only Republican I've seen on
the major media, and grudgingly at that, was Bush's acceptance speech.
He offered a branch! None of the Democrats have done so. They have
*all* said it's up to Bush.

Nowhere but the Democratic party will you find people that loose but, then
demand that the winners bend to their will. As NYOB says, they are out of
power due to their arrogance and self-importance.
