It depends ont he prop and the price of the prop. I sent a $400 stainless
prop off to The Propellor Company last year for repair. When it came back
it was perfect, and it cost me $150 to have done. The prop had been bounced
off a rock.

Hello,

Can someone tell me if a propeller is repairable or not? It was not torn
or bended, it was just scraped with rough edges around all the blades and
the skeg.

Is it expensive or should I just buy anyone? What kind of tools do I need
to take out the hub and take out the propeller. I am new in boating,
please help.

Thanks
David

I've paid $35-$65 to have aluminum prop repaired.

Thanks for replying. I will take it out and bring it to a prop shop and
have them estimate the cost. May be I should get a composite prop and use
this Aluminum as a spare.

Also Sprach William G. Andersen :

Just my two cents... I had an aluminum prop rebuilt by a reputable repair
shop (http://www.propshopltd.com/ ... They just happen to be walking
distance from my house) Later in the season, I had one of the blades
break off clean at the hub for no apparant reason. It was only $55 to
have it remanufactured, but I should have popped a hundred for a new one
instead, would have saved a precious day on the water, as well at a two
hour cruise home on the trolling motor.

Too bad about your blade. I've had one of my propellers repaired several
times with no problems; it's been about 5 years since the first repair.

Yep. Like I said, it's just my experience, and the shop did have a good
rep... I'm sure they would go out of business pretty quickly if every
reworked prop failed.

So something lewd and lascivious is illegal? I wonder if any of the
laws include the words "tawdry" and/or "salacious". Or can something be
tawdry, salacious, and altogether lascivious, but once it gets lewd,
that's when they call the cops?

I have never bothered to have an aluminum prop reworked, but I have had a
coupel stainless steel props done. So far no problems. One little tip
though. Carry a spare prop. I do.

I just carry a spare engine... There's no way I'm getting in the water to
change a prop.
