Jet Boat Performance Enhancement
I have a 1995 Boston Whaler 15' Rage Jetboat with 115 OMC engine. I
came across an interesting posting on the Boston Whaler forum about adding a "stuffer" prop to pre-feed the impeller to boost performance. I've linked to the document here http://www.geocities.com/cms_30338/Stufferprop.doc Anyone done something like this and seen an improvement? Any problems? |

I've linked to the document here http://www.geocities.com/cms_30338/Stufferprop.doc Anyone done something like this and seen an improvement? Any problems? Don's Pump Shop, in Ohio, was the first to patent the "loader". I helped him do some testing in the late 70s and 80s. It did indeed help somewhat on performance, but only on the low, and mid ranges. Extensive testing showed it actually hurt the top end...and really took a hit out of you, in triple digit speeds. The only "problem" I have seen, is that I have seen some come apart. I don't know if it was because of structural issues, or strikes, but the damage was extensive. The pieces-parts gets sent thru the impeller at speed...well...you get the picture. Most modern jetters get better overall numbers by using loading grates, rear-setting the pump, ride plates, and blue printing the whole thing. But hey...give it a shot...I know one guy at the lake who swears by them to this day. Good luck. -- -Netsock "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.columbus.rr.com/ckg/ |
