Boat engine inboard 20HP Universal A-2 sticky valve?

One can of Wynn's valve guide cleaner in. What now? I only sail on
weekends, and have only about 20 hours on engine since spring. It
only sticks about once a year.

Yeah, yeah, needs an oil change, soon, after the Wynn's has a bite.
Should I use ten weight, as advertised 30 years ago? Will
multiweight hurt it?

How long should valve guide cleaner be left in engine? It seems a
little like smelly thin clear oil. I broke a ring, once in a chevvy
using varsol to clean out carbon and gunk.

Where can I get a decent carburator for the thing? It always runs
cold, hasn't even a thermostat. Should I turn down the water intake
valve until the hose sucks itself thin? Or perhaps install a valve
between head outlet and exhaust manifold inlet? Perhaps I could
dummy up a thermostat housing on the head, using epoxy?

The way the rubber muffler flobbers about, it seems it might even
suck water up the hose by itself, if there was a one way valve in
there. What think?

TIA

Terry K
