No, stupid, he is saying, historically, 36+ foot waves have devastated
portions of the Gulf Coast.

36 foot waves can not hit the Gulf Coast. They break well before they get
close to shore.

If that were the case, then almost anywhere that there is a beach,
couldn't have waves, because the beach, at the edge, is only a 1/4"
deep!!!

not hardly true, newspaper reports notwithstanding. unless the water infront
of those houses was 60 feet deep.

JAX simply cannot admit he was wrong. The original poster said
nothing about waves hitting the beach. He talked about wave heights
at an offshore buoy. Yesterday, there were 42' waves there. During
the night, they had on that was 52'. I have personally seen 20'+
waves hitting hotel walls during a hurricane at Jacksonville Beach
during the early 70s. Of course they were breaking.

I have, but it was a long, long time ago. Dumpy place. Now, with the
casinos, it is a dumpy place with gambling.

there have been casinos there for a long time. 1965 when I was stationed
there there was gambling. Not as big of casinos as now, but there were open
gambling halls.

Beautiful homes they were. Have not been back since 1965, but a buddy was
there when Camille hit. I think was Andrew Jackson's ancestral home was one
of them. I was there for Betsy and it hit New Orleans area. All the
fishing shanties except for one in a 50 mile stretch of US 90 were gone.
Piled up next to the road in a 15' high stack and some a-hole torched.
Caused us an extra 150 miles to return to base. 12" I-beams from bill
boards that looked like corkscrews and bent horizontal. Since waves do not
get big next to the shore, I guess it was a figment of my imagination.

Ok... for the sake of argument... let's suppose you are right.

Now, then, after a major hurricane, tell me what leaves boats in the
tree tops? What destroys brick and stone mansions built several
hundred yards from the shore? What knocks out windows, doors, and
wall on the second and third floor level and leaves a discernable
water line?

Your silly theoretical textbook physics is just that...... textbook,
theoretical, and in the real world.... observably silly.

Sorry to harass you so, but reality is a bitch.... please buck up and
learn to deal with it..... it is, well, reality.

I've seen it with my own eyes.... I believe what I see.... and the
water was not 60 feet deep. You can go to Biloxi, today.... 35 years
later. Trust me dood..... those mansions are no longer there.....
google up a few pictures of the carnage. Your sixty foot fantasy
just doesn't exist... here in reality.
