repair HC 16 : take apart corner casting and beam...

Bad...

For two weeks, I dropped every day WD40 (penetrating oil)... I
hammered a lot... Even tried to heat (not too much, but some "hobie"
people said it was useless).... The edge of the corner casting begins
to distort... Corrosion must be here, between the corner casting and
the beam. Nothing moved.

Please help !

I now see two possibilities :

- use other more agressive chemical products : somebody spoked about
"diesel oil" ? Acid (wich one) ? other ?

- cut the aka at the edge of the corner casting, and then "extract"
the inside piece. But how to extract It ?!?

- other solutions ?

Cheers.

Something besides WD-40. Is neither a good penetrent or lube. Liguid
Wrench or what ever great penetrating oil your country has.

First question is why are you trying to take it apart? There might be
another way to solve the problem. There is another possibility that the PO
(if there was one) epoxied the crossbars to the castings. This is usually
done by racers to stiffen the frame up. I would try penetrating oil or
anti-sieze and try the heat on the casting again. They can be a real bugger
to get apart.
