Zell's Flip-flop on Kerry
Chuck, are you implying there was no 'hate Bush rhetoric' by the Democrats?
Not at all. There is no shortage of hatred for George W. Bush. Just as there was no shortage of animated hatred for Bill Clinton, before him, and for John Kerry who hopes to replace him. It is the right, however, moreso than the left, that institutionalizes and capitalizes on this hatred. Which political philosophy is espoused by hate radio personalities such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, et al? Which political philosophy is running a campaign based on fear and division? (oh, yes, I do know that we are all invited to "unite" the country by abandoning any and all priniciples not completely in sync with arch-conservative religious zealotry....) |
Gould,
I think you are blinded by your political preferences. If you read the newspapers and magazines and web sites, you will find just as many on the left as on the right who are emphasizing fear and division. Listen to Carville, do you not think he is as rabid as any right wing talk show? What is the difference between Michael Moore and right wing radio? How about Al Franken and his left wing radio show? Zell's speech was a fire and brimstone speech, he was saying what he believed, just as Al Sharpton gave an impassioned speech that fired up those at the conventions, they both made some factual errors, but when I hear people saying Kerry does not want to use "spitballs" for weapons, I just have to shake my head. It was political rhetoric, listen to some of the passionate speeches by Ted Kennedy and other emotional liberal politicians, and you will see the same rhetoric. I am not trying to justify Zell's, speech, and would love it if both parties discussed the issues and presented completely unbiased facts, but I realize it is not one sided and the left is just as guilty as the right. To present it any other way is the exact same rhetoric that Zell Miller used in his keynote address. "Gould 0738" wrote in message ... Harry, Suggesting that it would be a good thing for Zell to die while making the speech is lower than any political rhetoric I have seen from either candidates or their spin doctors. While many (probably most) democrats would be insulted by your comment, it does show that hate abounds in this campaign. Nah...I'm just thinking of the reality and drama it would have added, especially if Zell's last words (original ones...not ones cribbed from a GOP hate letter) had been "I did it all for you and Jesus, Dubya." A fitting end. Hey...Zell came close...I guess that is good enough. -- Not dead, in jail, or a slave? Thank a liberal! And don't forget to pay your taxes so the rich don't have to! |

I didn't say it would be "a good thing" for Miller to die. I said his speech would have been more effective had he burst a blood vessel and died right there, while praising Jesus and Dubya. When it comes to blowhards like Miller, I think theater is important. Think of the wonderful headlines the Konservatrash media outlets would have been able to produce: "Zell Miller Makes Ultimate Sacrifice Praising Bush..." Wonderful stuff, eh? Most of you conservatives seem to share the same damned problem...no ability to read for content or to understand abstractions. -- Not dead, in jail, or a slave? Thank a liberal! He previously claimed he got enjoyment when breaking a mans legs with his car. He is a sick man. |
