It's amazing how many people confuse the stock market with the "economy." :-)

Market values fluctuate. Presidents don't cause them to go up or down. The
economy recedes and recovers, and while presidents can influence the cycle,
(maybe even delay a recovery until closer to election), the economy will recede
and recover regardless of the party in the WH.

GWB's administration and the current batch of congresspeople *have* infected
our economy with cancer. We have cut tax revenues, while at the same time
allowing federal expenditures to skyrocket to historic highs. Spending is
completely out of control, and our response is to reduce the govt. income to
assure the greatest possible imbalance?

While the cancer is getting a thorough hold on every organ in the body, the
"wise physicians" are now whooping and hollering because the patient has
somehow found strength to sit up in bed.
"Look! The incense, chanting, and wishful thinking must be working! He just
sat up! What cancer?" It would be funny if it were not so sad.
