Lead by example. I'll start. Work has me pinned to the wall this year. I took my boat out only twice, Memorial Day and the 4th of July weekend. We do have plans for Labor day to spend the Holiday on the boat. I have a small ding in the prop that I incurred over the 4th of July weekend. The ding surprised me since what I thought was a black paint over a smooth aluminum surface turned out to be more of a heavy epoxy finish over a somewhat rough surface (almost looks like a coarse sand casting) . I paid a couple hundred for the prop, if I remember it is a 16"x15 or 16 pitch prop. Is the rough undersurface and epoxy coating a normal expectation for a prop? Should I consider stainless steel since I do beach the boat a lot while camping with family. The outdrive is a Volvo Penta 260A if I remember correctly. A rough year for boating for me. Because even though myself and others have repeatedly explained to him how filters and kill files work he just keeps on keeping on with the same OT whine over and over and over again. Maybe he's compulsive obsessive? Capt. Bill |
"Florida Keyz" wrote in message ... bored, non boating, political #$%%#$)(*_&* Interesting that this post provoked more responses than most boating related posts. Interesting, but not surprising, I'm reminded of the folks who used to say they subscribed to Playboy for the articles. If you don't like the OT stuff, use the tools that all readers have to block it. If you haven't implemented those tools, please stop complaining. There are a lot of bored people out there who welcome any kind of attention. You have to be quick on the trigger, just say no. This post almost screams "please respond with more OT stuff so we can get another OT thread started". Come on now, did you never look at the centerfold? |
exactly how do you get these filters.?

You are posting from an AOL account, you need to go to AOL Help to determine
how to filter out newsgroup BS. There are a number of alternative newsgroup readers you can use that provide extensive filtering capability if AOL doesn't meet your needs. Go to Google and search on "usenet newsgroup readers"., there are several free choices. Or, call AOL support to ask "how do I filter newsgroup messages?" I do block out all the OT clowns, trolls, and those who feed them. I also block out key words as well. But I don't agree with you when you say "stop complaining". This *IS* a boating group. Those who post OT are in violation of this groups charter, and Usenet etiquette. Not only do we have the right to complain, but we should as well...including complaints to their ISPs. More and more ISPs are getting more strict on Usenet rules...you'd be surprised how successful you could be...especially with repeated complaints. Those who don't wish to use filters, shouldn't have to...start complaining, and don't stop! -- -Netsock "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.insight.rr.com/cgreen/ |

"Those who don't wish to use filters, shouldn't have to...start
complaining, and don't stop!" Netsock Well OK, but send your complaints to a place where they might do some good. Clearly, repeated complaints to the readership of this newsgroup is not helpful in resolving the issue. Those who constantly post OT don't care about your complaints, and may even enjoy the idea that they have created a stir. Much of the readership here doesn't really care about boating. Now, I don't post OT very often, but I feel I must share with you my opinions on the upcoming election. If my guy doesn't win, it will be the end of our nation. The other guy is a hopeless jerk who will destroy our country and our way of life. You know who I mean.... |

Depends on who I'm dealing with. In your case, I just have to be about 10. But I can tell your an asshole. I mean, why would someone knowingly post OT to a boating group? Same type of person who would whine about them while posting to one there by adding to the volume. My "volume" is against those who post political threads in a boating group. And I will continue to expose and attack them as I see fit, thank you. Based on the quality of your whine, my guess is, you "see fit to expose and attack them" in your Batman costume with one hand on the keyboard and the other rubbing yourself. Got an intelligent answer? Yes, stop adding to them, use filters, use killfiles, stop whinning. Gee, was I even speaking to you? I thought not...asshole. This is not Email. Get a clue. I thought not...asshole. You thought wrong. Are you challenged? Maybe if you read slower...I-wasnt-speaking-to-you. There...slow enogh for ya? LOL! Again, only slower, This-is-not-Email.
