Momentary sweetness of life (OT)

"Calif Bill" opined ...
Really sad. 43% do not care for Kerry, but dislike Bush more. Says that
the Dems have a loser on their hands also.

What it actually says is that for 43% of the Kerry voters, their dislike for
Bush exceeds their attraction to Kerry. A high degree of dislike towards Bush
is just as (or more) likely the explanation.

That is what I stated. They do not care for Kerry at all, but the dislike
Bush even more. Sad, that we have this choice of President. Where is the
Scoop Jackson's when we need them.

No it isn't, you still miss the point. They may admire Kerry a great deal yet
their dislike for Bush exceeds that. You persist in saying they don't care for
Kerry. The data doesn't show that and I would make the same distinction if the
names were reversed.

Look at the data and it shows they dislike Bush more. Kerry is their
answer, as anybody but Bush is their motto. Sticker on a car to day in
Santa Cruz. "Santa Cruz Committee to Defeat Bush". Not SCC to elect
Kerry.

Exactly, you finally realize it doesn't say they don't care for Kerry (they may
or may not). Sorry to beat it to death but it bothers the engineer in me when
data is spun.

The engineer in me, does not see where the data says they like Kerry. It
says just about anybody but Kerry.

Good thing you're a handy man! The data is there, you just need enough
intelligence to extract it.

It simply says 43% of Kerry supporters say they dislike Bush *more* than they
like Kerry. That's all. It doesn't say they don't like Kerry. This isn't that
difficult.

The data shows Kerry is not liked very much. If he showed competency and
leadership, he would be a runaway in this election. Lerch OOPS Kerry, is
lacking both charisma and any semblence of leadership from his 20 years in
the Senate.
