Repowering

I am thinking of repowering my 24 ft Seaswirl Striper with either a Honda
Bf225 or the Yamaha 225.If there is anyone out there that has these engines
please let me know what you think of either of them.

Thanks for any and all comments.

I don't see how you could go wrong with either of these engines. I have
a 2003 F225 Yamaha, and it didn't hiccup once all season. Make sure you
get the engine propped properly.

I found when I was researching a couple years back that the Ficht 225 met
all expectations and exceed some of my criteria compared to the optimax,
yamaha. Now is a good time to make a deal with a dealer, the sales are
obviously much slower now and margins can be reduced. The Ficht 225 is a
nice engine, I think they have a 7 year warranty now.

I think you're making a big mistake if you don't include Taiwan Diesel
in the mix. The only problem being finding a dealer, or manufacturer.
The crux of the problem being the principal doesn't like dealers and
the manufacturer doesn't exist. But, if you can get past those minor
glitches, I hear they are great outboards.

Ah, you are referring to the "Taipan Diesel Outboard," the one NOT
manufactured, distributed or sold by Karen Elizabeth Smith, the one for
which there is no literature, no published news releases, no production
line and the one whose "registered name" was stolen from a model
airplane engine that was made and sold in Australia?

Indeed, there is no way you could go wrong with such an engine, since it
isn't being manufactured, distributed or sold. Hard for anything on it
to go wrong, eh?
