What a year. After a lousy spring and 1st half of the summer..with my

wife
home recovering from an operation, my mom not feeling well and my cat

tore
up by the neighbours in a fight. I was counting on the last half of

August
and September for some travelling and sailing on my 'new' Sandpiper 565.
Mail came today and there was a jury duty summons for our provincial

Supreme
Court. I have to make myself available for the month of September.
I wonder if 'a need for sailing' is good enough excuse to be released?

Sorry to hear about your problems Don. What was your wife operated on for
and is she OK?

Not having heard of a Sandpiper 565 before, I looked one up on Google
expecting to find a 56 ft sloop or thereabouts. Silly me. Looks like
a fun boat though, and jury duty will pass. Enjoy.

Thanks Dennis. Some bleeding started battery of tests and during a D & C
polyps were removed . They were found to have maligant cells...so she was
scheduled for the big 'H' operation. All tests confirm that she was
caught very early and no sign of cancer in ovaries/tubes/uteris. She is
taking it easy but I'm weaning her back to cooking and a few other light
duties. I couldn't survive 6 full weeks doing all the housework.

You've discovered that the 565 stands for 5.65 meters...about 18.5 feet.
that's about the biggest my Voyager mini-van can haul.

Around here Texas ( USA ), you can get one, and sometimes two, delays on
jury duty. Everybody has vacations; business trips; etc. that get in the
way to serve. You surely can't get out of it without a very good -medical-
or other - excuse, but you can make it fit your schedule very easily. You
can do it by touch-tone phone and /or the internet! RichG
