I am trying to get a list of items to check during delivery. Please help. A lot depends on how good the dealer is. The last two boats that I bought brand new the dealer stood behind the boat 100%. I took delivery of the boat and ran it until it was ready for its first oil change at 25 hours and then brought the boat in with a list of all the petty little things that needed attention and the dealer took care of it. If your dealer doesn't have such a good reputation then I would, as a minimum, make sure that everything worked. When you pick the boat up: Operate all the lights. Run the blower. Run everything electronic (stereo, VHF, etc.) Open every hatch and access port. Make sure the bilge pump operates. Reach down into the bilge and lift the float by hand. Sound the horn. Make sure the boat is properly equipped: Life jackets, throwable ring/cushion, etc. If the boat is on a trailer, make sure that the wheels are torqued down properly (I know people that had a wheel fall off their trailer on the first trip to the water!). Make sure the boat is tied down to the trailer properly. The real test will be when you put it in the water. Look for water leaks. Check for fuel leaks. If there is anything that isn't right, get the boat back to the dealer ASAP. Rod |
