If you go through lots of metal filters switch to racor.... I pay $9 for
the 1000 cartridges and they last a year.

And count your blessings if you're in the developed world. Fuel filter life
in the third world is much shorter than here, because there's a lot more
stuff in the fuel. The record low on our circumnav was ten hours on a
filter -- or why we had three filters in line....
