Three or Four Days After 2nd COVID-19 Shot...

Got my second Moderna shot Monday morning, and I'm trying to figure out
whether today, Thursday morning, is the third or fourth day.

So far, the side effects have been mild. Had a bit of soreness at the
injection site but that has mostly faded away and I did feel lethargic
and still do, but so far no fever, headaches, nausea, et cetera. I did
have some pain in my right toe, but I attribute that to a gazelle-like
move I made in the kitchen yesterday when I banged it into the bottom of
a cabinet. And the scratch on my hand resulted from a fight I had with
one of the cats, who demanded I give up the last bite of a tunafish
sandwich.

Not all my luck has been bad, though. I did come across a two pound bag
of frozen lobster claws for $19 at the local Harris Teeter. Bought these
once before and they are great buy.

Oh, and I also received a poorly written email from a pretty Slovakian
lass of 26 who will "do anything" to come to America. Heck, I haven't
dated a pretty girl that young since I was 47, so I forwarded
her missive to my good buddy Donald J. Trump, aka "the former guy," who,
if the rumors pan out, will be in the market for another European bride
later this year, after Melancholia cashes in her pre-nup and heads back
to her country of origin.

But, as Melancholia's jacket declared, "I don't care, do you?"

* Lock up Trump and his family of grifters. *

I'd say you are finishing up your 3rd day
After 72 hours have passed since the injection, you will enter your 4th day.

That makes sense. Thanks. Hopefully, no new symptoms today or tomorrow
and then I presume I am "home-free" in terms of negative vaccination
side effects. My second shot was delayed a week because of our "snow
days" here.
--
* Lock up Trump and his family of grifters. *

Slow going here for the shots.
They just started 80 year olds and up. Registration system failed the first hour.
We are expecting the new version from India that is only 62% effective. Thank goodness they won't give it to the 65 and older crowd. Trouble is it will still be a month or two before my age group ponys up.
Some provinces are delaying the 2nd shot to speed up the 1st shot for more people.

Let's hear it again for socialized medicine.

===

I have yet to meet a Canadian who likes their health care system. I'm
sure there are some, somewhere, but not where I am. Those that can
afford it generally come here for elective surgeries.

You'd quickly find out how many want our health system if any conservative gov't tried to take it away.
We just want improvements in selected areas.
The federal gov't started weaseling away at their share of the costs almost from the start.

No, Bilious. Y'all is a contraction and refers to more than one person,

That makes sense. Thanks. Hopefully, no new symptoms today or tomorrow
and then I presume I am "home-free" in terms of negative vaccination
side effects. My second shot was delayed a week because of our "snow
days" here.

Slow going here for the shots.
They just started 80 year olds and up. Registration system failed the first hour.
We are expecting the new version from India that is only 62%
effective. Thank goodness they won't give it to the 65 and older
crowd. Trouble is it will still be a month or two before my age group ponys up.
Some provinces are delaying the 2nd shot to speed up the 1st shot for more people.

Let's hear it again for socialized medicine.

You'd quickly find out how many want our health system if any
conservative gov't tried to take it away.
We just want improvements in selected areas.
The federal gov't started weaseling away at their share of the costs almost from the start.

The government does not pay any of the costs.

So far, the side effects have been mild. Had a bit of soreness at the
injection site but that has mostly faded away and I did feel lethargic
and still do, but so far no fever, headaches, nausea, et cetera. I did
have some pain in my right toe, but I attribute that to a gazelle-like

one of the cats, who demanded I give up the last bite of a tunafish

Not all my luck has been bad, though. I did come across a two pound bag
of frozen lobster claws for $19 at the local Harris Teeter. Bought these
once before and they are great buy.

Oh, and I also received a poorly written email from a pretty Slovakian

dated a pretty girl that young since I was 47, so I forwarded
her missive to my good buddy Donald J. Trump, aka "the former guy," who,
if the rumors pan out, will be in the market for another European bride

But, as Melancholia's jacket declared, "I don't care, do you?"

Why? And y’all is singular.

No, Bilious. Y'all is a contraction and refers to more than one person,

Even the cheap Merriam-Webster agrees:

you-all pronoun

variants: y'all

Definition of you-all

chiefly Southern
you-all —usually used in addressing two or more persons

A real southerner would say all you-all for plural, as in "how are all

I'd say you are finishing up your 3rd day
After 72 hours have passed since the injection, you will enter your 4th day.

That makes sense. Thanks. Hopefully, no new symptoms today or tomorrow
and then I presume I am "home-free" in terms of negative vaccination
side effects. My second shot was delayed a week because of our "snow

Why? And y’all is singular.

No, Bilious. Y'all is a contraction and refers to more than one person,
as in: how are you-all?

Even the cheap Merriam-Webster agrees:

you-all pronoun

variants: y'all

Definition of you-all

you-all —usually used in addressing two or more persons

What the **** would a yankee dictionary know about "Y'all"?
If we are talking about more than one person it is "All Y'all".
If you are moving to South Carolina you will need to know this.

A real southerner would say all you-all for plural, as in "how are all
you-all?"

My wife is a real southerner from birth. She has lived in Georgia,
Virginia, and Florida. She has never in her life said "all you-all." She
has said "y'all" when talking with other southerners in a group. She has
never said "you-uns," or "us-uns," either.

Florida seems be more New York dialect. And at what age did she live in
those other states?

Neither Florida, south of I-10, Virginia or Maryland are really
southern in that Alabama/Georgia sort of way and if she lived in a big
city in Georgia it is not all that representative either. Atlanta
still reminds me a lot like DC. Most of them are from somewhere else
too these days.

Delaying the 2nd shot? Idiots. There is a stated timeframe for the 2nd
shot.

I've read that in the case of the Moderna vaccine the second dose is
recommended 28 days after the first however the time between the first
and second dose can be extended to 48 days.

I've also read that the first Moderna and the first Pfizer dose raises
your "immunity" to over 90 percent. The second dose only adds two or
three percent more, according to the testing. If true, it seems like
skipping the second dose making more vaccine available for others might
be worth considering. I'd gladly forgo the second dose if Mrs.E.
could receive her first instead.

I am scheduled for the second Moderna dose next Saturday (March 13th)
and am very fortunate that the VA made the vaccinations available.
Most seniors in MA are still having a hard time scheduling an
appointment to get the vaccine. Mrs.E. is on a waiting list at
two vaccination centers. Appointments are booked for over a
month in advance.

The John is seeing things.

Don, who pays for the vaccination shots in Canada?

Just to be clear, you should understand that the corvid vaccinations
in the USA are paid for by the US government for *everyone*. You
don't need to be a Vet to get it for "free" (which it really isn't
anyway).

I just got lucky in the lottery of things that the VA in my
area received an allotment of the Moderna vaccine sufficient
to make it available to all Vets in this area.

It's not so everywhere.

The John is seeing things.

Don, who pays for the vaccination shots in Canada?

Just to be clear, you should understand that the corvid vaccinations
in the USA are paid for by the US government for *everyone*.Â* You
don't need to be a Vet to get it for "free" (which it really isn't
anyway).

I just got lucky in the lottery of things that the VA in my
area received an allotment of the Moderna vaccine sufficient
to make it available to all Vets in this area.

It's not so everywhere.

I assume the federal government as the agent of the people is
reimbursing the local governments or pharmacy chains or supermarkets for
the time of the personnel involved in doing the injections. My wife got
her shots at a big supermarket pharmacy in DC that was already set up to
do various vaccinations. I got mine at a county emergency supply/food
storage facility/warehouse with freezers that was set up as a
vaccination drive-through. In addition to the county health department
personnel handling the task, volunteer firefighters and off-duty county
police were outside, doing a bit of traffic directing.

The county health department here handled it all perfectly, from
announcing the on-line and phone availability of getting a reservation
to the on-line and phone reminders of your upcoming appointment to an
email announcing the delay because of inclement weather to a follow-up
email after the vaccination.

My wife had mild reactions to the second shot: a bit of nausea, sore
arm, weariness. I had a sore arm and some lower body muscular aches for
a night and two days of weariness. All gone now. Whew!

When I finally got through to a human here in the county, wanting to schedule my
second dose, the lady said, "Sir, the CDC says you can wait six weeks between
the first and second dose."

I said, "Ma'am, I'm already over five weeks."

Then she scheduled me for the following week.

She's fine but she had to cut his meat for him because his arm is
still unusable. He had to cancel two golf dates this week.

Damn! Cancel *two* golf dates? ****, I'd rather go through a bout of Covid!

My second shot was delayed a week because of our "snow
days" here.

* Lock up Trump and his family of grifters. *

Slow going here for the shots.
They just started 80 year olds and up. Registration system failed the first hour.
We are expecting the new version from India that is only 62% effective.
Thank goodness they won't give it to the 65 and older crowd. Trouble is
it will still be a month or two before my age group ponys up.
Some provinces are delaying the 2nd shot to speed up the 1st shot for more people.

It would be a great example of cancel culture.

afford it generally come here for elective surgeries.

You'd quickly find out how many want our health system if any

We just want improvements in selected areas.
The federal gov't started weaseling away at their share of the costs almost from the start.

The government does not pay any of the costs.

Actual vaccine provided by the Fed's. Not sure who pays the doctors, pharmacies, nurses etc who will administer it.
Just to keep the jackels at bay, yes the same poor taxpayer funds the federal, provincial and municipal governments.

Actual vaccine provided by the Fed's. Not sure who pays the doctors, pharmacies, nurses etc who will administer it.
Just to keep the jackels at bay, yes the same poor taxpayer funds the federal, provincial and municipal governments.

Right now I think the taxpayer is picking up the whole tab. I know
that is true now with the 65 and over crowd being vaccinated here now.
(Medicare eligible)

From CDC
"Medicare payment rates for COVID-19 vaccine administration will be
$28.39 to administer single-dose vaccines. For a COVID-19 vaccine
requiring a series of 2 or more doses, the initial dose(s)
administration payment rate will be $16.94, and $28.39 for the
administration of the final dose in the series"

Last fall I got a flu shot at a local Walgreens pharmacy because
I happened to be there picking up some meds for Mrs.E. and it was
convenient. I expected to pay for it but was told
if I had Medicare, it was free ... to me anyway.

I received a statement from Walgreens later showing the costs.
I've forgotten the exact numbers but Walgreens had the shot
priced about 6 pt 8 dollars more than what Medicare paid according
to the statement.

I am sure it works the same way for the corvid shots except you don't
have to have Medicare.

There is a stated timeframe for the 2nd shot. I've read that in the case of the Moderna vaccine the second dose is recommended 28 days after the first however the time between the firstand second dose can be extended to 48 days.I've also read that the first Moderna and the first Pfizer dose raisesyour "immunity" to over 90 percent. The second dose only adds two orthree percent more, according to the testing. If true, it seems likeskipping the second dose making more vaccine available for others mightbe worth considering. I'd gladly forgo the second dose if Mrs.E.could receive her first instead.I am scheduled for the second Moderna dose next Saturday (March 13th)and am very fortunate that the VA made the vaccinations available. Most seniors in MA are still having a hard time scheduling anappointment to get the vaccine. Mrs.E. is on a waiting list attwo vaccination centers. Appointments are booked for over amonth in advance.-- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG.https://www.avg.com

Our friends from Plymouth got their first shots at two different
Publix. in Miami Monday. A 2 1/2 drive each way from their condo
on Little Hickory Island. We had dinner with them last night.
She's fine but she had to cut his meat for him because his arm is
still unusable. He had to cancel two golf dates this week.

People seem to react differently to the shot. I didn't notice anything
after the first Moderna dose other than a very slightly sore arm the
next day which is pretty much normal for any kind of shot.

Hopefully it will be the same after the second dose next Saturday.

We have friends up here who have already received the single
dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Haven't heard of any bad
reactions so far.

It's still hard to get an appointment for any of the vaccines. Those
who have been successful sit on a computer or cell all day long,
watching for an opening at one of about four mass vaccination
venues. Mrs.E. remains on a waiting list at a smaller, local
facility.

Have you guys received yours yet?
