Greetings
Just stopping in to say "hi" to those in rec.boats. Couple of people communicated via Facebook, so I thought I'd stop by. I've taken a (refreshing) break from political discussions, stopped watching the infamous cable networks, and have avoided social media. Hadn't checked in to Facebook in quite a while. It has been nice. I realized that other than casting a vote every couple of years, there's really nothing the average person can do to influence the politicians running this country. Sick of listening to all of them ... and that refers to both the Republicans and the Democrats. On the plus side, this morning I received the first of two doses of the Moderna vaccine. MA state rules still require you to be at least 75 years old until March or April but I received an email from the VA saying they were offering the vaccine to all vets 55 years of age and up. So, I took a ride over to the VA facility in Brockton and got the first dose. I'll go back on March 13th for the second. The longest wait was the 15 minutes they require you to stay after getting the shot in case of any severe reactions. I had none and still have none. Anyhoo, try to keep the peace. Arguing about politics (of which I was often guilty) serves no useful purpose other than to cause ill feelings and animosity. I think we have much more pressing issues to be resolved. Oh ... for you Floridians .... you are welcome. I think as many people here in MA were rooting for Tampa as they have rooted for the Patriots in the past. -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com |

I hope things will calm down here soon. We actually did talk about boats a little in reference to the new V-12 Merc. I thought about talking to the VA for my shot but I understand you have to already be in the medical system. I am not really much of a football fan but I have to say Brady and Gronk looked pretty good and the Tampa defense did a pretty good job of shutting down KC. Mahones played a pretty good game. Too bad the rest of the team didn't show up. The grounds keepers and cops did a better job of stopping the streaker at the goal line than the KC defense did all day. |

I got the Moderna on Feb. 1, go back on Mar. 1. Seems as if the fishing group I am part of has sen a couple days of nastiness after the 2nd. Wife got the Pfizer shot. Seems as less bad after the 2nd on that one. Whatever. Heard there were good Super Bowl adverts. Seems as if I rarely watch football these days. Lot of prima Donna’s. The last few years. |

Regarding the covid vaccine shot .... the availability may be unique to the Boston area VA Healthcare system based on supply or something. Don't know if it is nation-wide. The notice up here was that if you are "in" the system, you call a number to make an appointment. (although it turns out that wasn't necessary as they were also taking "walk-ins" when I showed up.) But they also said that if you were a Vet but *not* in the system you can call a different number to register and could then receive the vaccine shots. I may look into that. The problem is I really need to get my FIL done. He is 92. I would feel bad going before him. I am surprised Florida has not been able to vaccinate all seniors yet. Based on what we hear in the news Florida is doing a great job with the distribution and logistics of vaccinating. -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com |

I've read reports on Facebook from Olde Fartes like me who live in Florida and who haven't been able to set up an appointment for a vaccination. I would expect that to be the case in many states, and the situation changes from day to day. I get my second shot this week through the county health department. Wife got hers as a "provider" a month ago through the District of Columbia. When I was waiting in the drive-through line for the first shot, I was chatting with a firefighter who was directing the traffic in the waiting lot. He said all the firefighters, police, and EMT folks had received at least their first shots, and some had received the second shot. I believe the county here is now setting up appointments for anyone 18 and older. -- Bozo Binned: Herring, Bert Robbins, JackGoff 452471atgmail.com, Just-AN-Asshole, Tim, AMDX, and Gunboy Alex, aka the Gang of Dull, Witless, Insult-Tossing Trumpsters. Regarding the covid vaccine shot .... the availability may be unique to the Boston area VA Healthcare system based on supply or something. Don't know if it is nation-wide. The notice up here was that if you are "in" the system, you call a number to make an appointment. (although it turns out that wasn't necessary as they were also taking "walk-ins" when I showed up.) I've read reports on Facebook from Olde Fartes like me who live in Florida and who haven't been able to set up an appointment for a vaccination. I would expect that to be the case in many states, and the situation changes from day to day.I get my second shot this week through the county health department. Welcome back. So, I took a ride over to the VA facility in Brockton and got the first dose. I'll go back on March 13th for the second. The longest wait was the 15 minutes they require you to stay after getting the shot in case of any severe reactions. I had none and still have none. Anyhoo, try to keep the peace. It has two holes for his ears, one big hole to fit over his head, and an overlapped cutout for him to sip on a straw through. Based on what we hear in the news Florida is doing a great job with the distribution and logistics of vaccinating. They have the same problem the whole country has, not enough vaccine. The slots fill up in minutes when they open the registrations.. We also have a million snowbirds lining up because they didn't get their shot at home. The state with “Federal” help (maybe) is setting up super vaccinator sites. Our local fairgrounds has been set up for weeks, the news is bragging about the setups. Why after weeks of being setup, there ain’t been a single vaccination? I got the first shot, via my doctors health group. Wife got hers via another healthcare group she is registered with. Seems as if the state and Fed’s are ****ing in the wind. |
