As usual, you miss the point. The COVID death toll could have been much
lower had we not had an incompetent, ignorant ass in the White House.
Oh, and heart disease and cancer typically are progressive diseases, and
don't usually kill people a few weeks or less after onset.

It is also unclear that we were going to do much more here that the
people would tolerate. Even in dark blue California with draconian
measures by the democrat governor, they are having serious problems
with the "rona".
When you look at Europe, 8 countries are doing worse than the US. Did
Trump do that too?

You seem to be paying more attention to him than me. Are you going to
be as hard on Biden with every death and new infection after 1/20/21?

Biden and Harris aren't going to lie about a new pandemic, refuse to
take drastic action, ignore science, insult governors and mayors, et
cetera. Trump did and does all of that.

That is rhetoric. Will they do anything that actually makes a
difference?

The vaccine is the only thing I see that might make a difference,
assuming it works and enough people actually take it.
The problem with the shortcuts in the testing is they are just
guessing about the long term results. The folks in UK are saying they
are seeing a different mutation of the virus and they hope the vaccine
will work on it too.

The only real plan anyone has is to try to vaccinate as many people as
possible and pray.
The prayer is about as effective as anything we are doing now except
total lockdowns.

The ironic thing is Sweden didn't lock down and they are doing better
than us and most of Europe.

Greg's assertion regarding Sweden is correct. As of yesterday they
had 755 deaths per million population. The USA is at 928 and growing
rapidly. It's not clear whether Sweden's no lock down policy was
responsible for that difference but it is true that they are doing
better than many other European countries.

Those Aussies are a bit hard hearted. On a national news program this morning an Aussie family has been trapped out west in Alberta or Manitoba for 9 months. Most other countries helped their citizens get home last March/April but not them. The husband is a former Canadian on a permanent wiki visa but the wife and kid are full blown Aussies. She says 40,000 of her fellow countrymen are 8n the same boat all over the world.
Hell, if any of our citizens are stupid enough to travel to Florida, we'll welcome them back if they promise to self isolate for 14 days.
