More evolution in action...

He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus.

An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing
off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching
“unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn
got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church
to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against
gatherings of more than 10 people.

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can
quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying
that “people are healed” in his church.

Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in violation”
of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the church — he
vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I
talk to God!”

On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy
heart” that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church
members offering their prayers.

maybe he believ3ed in the words of the apostle Paul who said in Plillipians 1:21-23

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

I didn't know there was a point, Tim. In the case at hand, the preacher
holding a service in infectious times at his church, what was the point,
aside from religious arrogance, overwhelming stupidity, and not caring
about the health of others? Was it Trumpitis?

Evolution in action...stupid is as stupid does. Getting together in
infectious times to worship an imaginary "lord" demonstrates the
inherent evil in religion.

I am not familiar with this particular church but the ones I see that
insist on pressing the flesh these days tend to be of the "pay to
pray" variety. Most seem to be doing just fine with online services or
drive in services where people stay in their cars and watch the sermon
while it is being broadcast to their radio. God still sees you there
too and you are not tempting fate.
I know a few people who have come to like the drive in thing quite a
bit. They don't have to dress up as much and they can bring a cooler
;-)

If they could find a way to "mike" the choir, this might even become
the new normal.
OTOH I also understand Sunday services are as much a social affair as
it is talking to the lord. That is what my FIL and his girl friend
miss the most. They really enjoyed hanging out with their friends
there and then going to Bob Evans or Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. It was
a regular Sunday outing for them ... then come home and watch football
or NASCAR.

I could say the same thing about being a liberal democrat.

Ignorant beliefs are not limited to spiritual things.
You actually believe the government can do things more efficiently and

I suppose any ignorant belief is possible if you are religious.

I could say the same thing about being a liberal democrat.

Ignorant beliefs are not limited to spiritual things.
You actually believe the government can do things more efficiently and
cheaper than the private sector and you have no proof either.

Imagine the Federal government being in charge of doing the

The ironic thing is the epicenter, NYC, never ran out of ventilators
and now they are shipping their surplus west. (But I seem to remember
someone saying that) ;-)

Our main medical conglomerate here is saying they are at less than
half capacity and they have plenty of ventilators. If you can believe
the numbers, we have hit the flat spot on our curve too. I still
wonder what will happens when the old folks come out from under the
bed but the young people seem to be out and about, as much as they can
with the places that are open.

As it turns out it seems everything I do is "essential" and my life
hasn't really changed that much. The only place I am avoiding is the
barber shop and Harry will say that is normal for me too. I haven't
been to Lowes or HD for a while but that is because I am supporting my
locally owned Ace Hardware, even if it does cost me a few extra bucks.
I am also waiting until Costco gets our dog food back in stock before
I go there. Both local locations show out of stock on the web site.I
don't really need anything else from there.

of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the
church — he
vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the
hospital.”

“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a
preacher — I
talk to God!”

On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful
and heavy
heart” that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed
with COVID-19.

His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church
members offering their prayers.

For the survival of this country, it is vitally important for
all of us
to successfully associate the substantial harm wreaked by
COVID-19 with
Trump and thereby defeat him in the fall election.

maybe he believ3ed in the words of the apostle Paul who said in
Plillipians 1:21-23

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

**** But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour:
yet what I shall choose I wot not.

**** For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to
depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:* "

More likely, he was just another religious dumb****.

Actually I think it is just the money for some of these guys and they
take advantage of people's beliefs to get it.
You know, like the DNC.

But... he said: “I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding,
“I’m a preacher — I talk to God!”

Apparently his god didn't think much of what the preacher said.* :)

Maybe God didn't think he was rendering enough to Caesar.
When God is ****ed at you it makes the IRS look like sissies* ;-)

I suppose any ignorant belief is possible if you are religious.

I could say the same thing about being a liberal democrat.

Ignorant beliefs are not limited to spiritual things.
You actually believe the government can do things more efficiently and
cheaper than the private sector and you have no proof either.

Did you see how quickly GM set up a ventilator assembly area
and started shipping them?
(once they got over their ass chewing by Trump)

Imagine the Federal government being in charge of doing the
same from scratch.* They'd still be working on the executive
summary of what a ventilator is.

Gosh, I wonder how many of GM's speedily built ventilators will be
recalled for the usual GM defects?

He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus.

An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly
showing
off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep
preaching
“unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald
O. Glenn
got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic
Church
to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against
gatherings of more than 10 people.

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus.
You can
quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to
claps, saying
that “people are healed” in his church.

Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in
violation”
of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the
church — he
vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the
hospital.”

“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a
preacher — I
talk to God!”

On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful

It looks like they will sit around unused until they are finally
scrapped. The ventilator shortage and shortage of trained medical
personnel appears to both be a hoax. Hospitals are laying people off
and ventilators are sitting around unused because the covid cases are
just not there and the hospitals are barred from doing anything else.
