More evolution in action...
He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus. An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.” In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people. “I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church. Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in violation” of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the church — he vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.” “I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!” On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart” that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19. His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church members offering their prayers. Excerpt swiped from NYPOST -- For the survival of this country, it is vitally important for all of us to successfully associate the substantial harm wreaked by COVID-19 with Trump and thereby defeat him in the fall election. |

As usual Harry, you miss the whole point of the pastor and Christianity in general . But that’s expected if you.

The point is that he and his congregation feel that worshiping the Lord together is more sacred then some edict rolled down by man. And that is something you can’t understand

When God is ****ed at you it makes the IRS look like sissies ;-) I am not familiar with this particular church but the ones I see that insist on pressing the flesh these days tend to be of the "pay to pray" variety. Most seem to be doing just fine with online services or drive in services where people stay in their cars and watch the sermon while it is being broadcast to their radio. God still sees you there too and you are not tempting fate. I know a few people who have come to like the drive in thing quite a bit. They don't have to dress up as much and they can bring a cooler ;-) If they could find a way to "mike" the choir, this might even become the new normal. OTOH I also understand Sunday services are as much a social affair as it is talking to the lord. That is what my FIL and his girl friend miss the most. They really enjoyed hanging out with their friends there and then going to Bob Evans or Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. It was a regular Sunday outing for them ... then come home and watch football or NASCAR. |

(But I seem to remember someone saying that) ;-) Our main medical conglomerate here is saying they are at less than half capacity and they have plenty of ventilators. If you can believe the numbers, we have hit the flat spot on our curve too. I still wonder what will happens when the old folks come out from under the bed but the young people seem to be out and about, as much as they can with the places that are open. As it turns out it seems everything I do is "essential" and my life hasn't really changed that much. The only place I am avoiding is the barber shop and Harry will say that is normal for me too. I haven't been to Lowes or HD for a while but that is because I am supporting my locally owned Ace Hardware, even if it does cost me a few extra bucks. I am also waiting until Costco gets our dog food back in stock before I go there. Both local locations show out of stock on the web site.I don't really need anything else from there. |

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: " More likely, he was just another religious dumb****. Actually I think it is just the money for some of these guys and they take advantage of people's beliefs to get it. You know, like the DNC. But... he said: “I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!” Apparently his god didn't think much of what the preacher said. :) Maybe God didn't think he was rendering enough to Caesar. When God is ****ed at you it makes the IRS look like sissies ;-) I suppose any ignorant belief is possible if you are religious. I could say the same thing about being a liberal democrat. Ignorant beliefs are not limited to spiritual things. You actually believe the government can do things more efficiently and cheaper than the private sector and you have no proof either. I don't recall stating "the government can do things more efficiently and cheaper than the private sector and you have no proof either," but I do believe that is true about some aspects of life. And I'm not convinced "cheaper" is always the better course. -- MAGA - Manipulating America's Gullible Assholes |

That doesn't mean they are supporters of the DNC. The ventilator shortage and shortage of trained medical personnel appears to both be a hoax. Hospitals are laying people off and ventilators are sitting around unused because the covid cases are just not there and the hospitals are barred from doing anything else. |
