I've never tried "video chat" to consult with a doctor. Are you pleased
with the experience and results? If I visit my doc for any reason, I get
prodded and poked, my BP, Blood Oxy are checked and she/he listens to my
heart/lungs. Hard to do that from afar, and what if you need a blood test?

I was notified that I can opt for a video appointment at my next
scheduled visit to the VA. Normally I pick up "slips" at the VA
clinic and take them to Quest for blood to be drawn and analyzed.
Quest electronically reports back to my primary care with the results
within a day.

For the video appointment option, the VA will contact Quest authorizing
the blood work to be done. I just go to Quest, give the blood, then
sign in for the video thing when scheduled.

My Primary Care person wanted to do this a few months ago just to see
how I was doing with some medication she prescribed. I told her I'd
have to take the electrical tape off the camera on my computer.
She laughed and said she'd just give me a telephone call instead.

.05%. cOVID-19 is 1-8% deaths. 34 million at 2% would be 680,000 deaths.



Sadly, we are all in the high risk group...but I read somewhere it hits

LabCorp has a small office and a registered nurse stationed within the
offices of the medical practice I use. Literally across a parking lot,
LabCorp has a pretty big lab it uses to service various health
facilities in the area, so the practice I see gets results the same day
if the tests are taken in the morning. There are a lot of medical
practitioners within a mile or two miles of our regional hospital.

Essentially they are still saying the same number of people will be
infected, they just want to spread it out over a longer time. It is
like pulling off a band aid. Do you want to do it slowly or just yank
it off and get over it. I think we will all get it eventually.
The current prediction is that this sill slow down considerably in the
summer and come back with a vengeance next winter.



I think the point demonstrated in the graph is how to manage the
spread without overwhelming healthcare facilities and capabilities.
Otherwise, what happened in China will happen everywhere. It appears
that Italy and Iran are getting close.

All in all, the USA is managing. Over 1.000 confirmed so far with about
28 deaths ... mostly people in their 80's with pre-existing conditions.

Maybe it is time to short your nursing home stock.

Maybe it is time to go rent a 300 cu/ft oxygen tank and buy a medical
regulator or two. Having oxygen might make the difference between
living or dying if you get sick. I have a full 80 and a 20 in the
garage but I am not sure how long they last. I do have the regulators
and flow gauges too.

Yes and no on the video chat. New for our system. They neglected to
inform us we had to call in at the set time, we were wait for a call from
them. Missed the first appointment. Sound was bad. The first was a NP
who got the symptoms and facts. Then the doctor came on and discussed the
problem. 99.99% flu. Saved going to the clinic and exposing others to
the whatever and exposing the wife to sick people at the clinic. Overall,
seems good. Depends what you have.

I have all of the tools to do vital signs, including blood oxygen. I
suppose it is only a matter of time before the phone app comes out to
listen to your heart and lungs. A smart watch already gets most of
your vitals anyway.
I could draw blood, I imagine, if they would send me the kit with the
hose for the bottles. I am not squeamish about poking myself.
We have done the teledoc a few times, mostly my wife and as long as
you just want a prescription, it seems to work OK.
I may be doing it myself with my regular PCP if he will play along. I
have some questions but I don't want to go there. This may be a good
excuse. ;-)
