boat capsized yesterday.

Some guy with a new to him 21’ Bayliner center console took it out of
Pillar Point Harbor yesterday. 8 people aboard, no electronics, no radio.
Got confused and ran in to the surf line. 7’ swells yesterday, short
duration. Flipped the boat. 8 very lucky dumb people all made it to
shore. Boat could not be found due to the fog. Jeeze, at least wait for a
nice day to try out the new boat when you don’t seem to know what you were
doing. CG rescued a kayaker off shore of Pigeon Point today. He called
for help. To far out and was losing distance to wind and current. CG helo
came for him, wonder what the bill will be. Rescue swimmer got him to the
hoist and then was paddling in the kayak. Three kayaks, did not stay
together. On guy was on shore next to us when the next guy was about a 1/2
mile out. Just barely visible with eyeballs. Took the binoculars out see
the guy rescued. Common sense is really missing these days. Heard on the
radio some bicyclist ran off the cliffs and died in Santa Cruz.

Studies have shown that simply living in California can be dangerous to your health.

Not your health, your pocketbook.

Probably both

Paul Hovnanian P.E. November 19th 19 04:04 AM

boat capsized yesterday.

I was listening to the VHF a few years ago when I heard someone call the CG
for assistance. Vessel name, position and nature of the problem were
exchanged. Then the CG radio operator asked, "Is this a pleasure craft or a
sailboat?"

I had to laugh.
