I was on a Habit for humanity build after Katrina. One of the guys on the trip was the former head of the industrial arts teachers of California. When the community colleges and state universities said they wanted all high school kids as college prep and they could learn trades in community or state college. He said he told them they were idiots, two years later they admitted they were idiots, but the damage had already been done. All those shop courses and equipment had been removed from most schools. |
