I had a friend pass earlier this year. His wife had a small service dog
that let her know when her insulin level was bad. She died of the
diabetics complication. Riley the dog, who was old, and blind was still a
great little dog. When Steve passed a couple months later, the kids had to
have Riley put down as he would not eat.

Here's what a typical liberal had to say about Bush's dog.

They're all the same.

Those people simply do not understand the bond that can develop
between people and animals. It is just stupid to imply that the dog
does not miss GHW.

What do either of you two know about the bond that develops between
people you don't know and their animals you don't know?

Asshole!

You really are a dumb****. I was sad to learn of the loss of G.H.W Bush
and even sadder to see how bad a shape Bob Dole is in. Unlike you and
your fellow piece of ****, Donald Trump, I have empathy.
......

Is calling someone that name being empathetic?

You are no doubt referring to JustaFart using the sobriquet "asshole."

.......

But he didn’t claim to be empathetic

Dole is 95. Most people would not be in any shape at all other than a
rectangular box. I respected that he made the effort to salute another
WWII vet.

We could all learn a lot by the demonstration of respect the "greatest
generation" afford each other. As younger politicians Dole and GHWB
were not exactly best buddies nor did they necessarily agree/approve of
each other's political agendas.

But they respected each other.
