The problem with cable soaps
I binge watched Band of Brothers a few days ago and now I am watching
Captain Winters be a stock broker on Billions. Same guy, different suit. |

Some trailer parks are nicer than that community of bungalos where you lived in Florida up until the banker took your bungalo away from you. -- x ----Android NewsGroup Reader---- http://usenet.sinaapp.com/ |

'Jack Ryan' on Amazon Prime Video is fun. It looked like a special effects and stunt show for the few minutes I watched it. It will be around so I may give it another shot. |

These cable soaps seem to recycle a lot of the same people through, particularly the supporting actors. I guess it is like the old studio system except I doubt they are really under contract. I know it is hard to find a black supporting actor who was not on "The Wire". That may have been the best TV show of that genre ever tho. The writing was excellent and they had the "Maryland" thing pegged perfectly. It was probably because of the number of locals they hired. Most of them disappeared after the show ended. |

And a Captain no less. There are a lot of captains in 'Easy Company', any idea why that is? |

The Major (Winters) was the star of the TV show and actually the XO of the 506th but he was CO of Easy for most of the European campaign. I agree that picture seems to be heavy on officers and I don't see a lot of the names used in the TV show that is fairly accurate from what I understand. Maybe most of the enlisted guys were working when they took the picture. A company is typically around 100 guys isn't it? |

I assume they lost a bunch, but that still seems mighty small to be called a company. |

I just don't remember what they were but I do agree that does not look like the whole company and there are more officers in the picture than it takes to run a company, even with the doctors. Since they had a bunch of Easy company guys commenting on the show and Winters was the main advisor, I do think it is fairly accurate. You can stream the whole thing on Amazon. It is worth the 10 hours and a whole lot better than anything on regular TV. |

Might hit 'Band of Brothers' again after that. |
