Trump is very successful kissing the ass of murderous dictators, but
he doesn't seem to be able to get along with the leaders of western
democracies. North Korean specializes in prison, torture, executions,
and starvation of its own people, but Trump thinks Kim is someone to
admire.

It's interesting that as a progressive liberal who believes in social
and cultural changes "for the betterment of the people"Â* that you
immediately jump to a same old, same old argument when it comes
to Kim.

First of all, even as a dictator, Kim does not have complete control
of North Korea.Â* He has military leaders who are devoted to the
politics of Kim's father and grandfather before him and they represent
a threat to his control and authority, especially if he begins to
entertain new ideas.Â* Even very recently Kim fired three of his
top military types presumably because they opposed of his meeting
with Trump, his release of the three hostages and the halting of
nuclear and missile testing.

I tend to have a more optimistic view.Â* Unlike his grandfather and
father Kim was educated outside of North Korea.Â* His background
is reminiscent of what happened in China as people became exposed
to Western educational systems and experienced what the world is
like outside the walls of their dark caves.Â* Once started, China
*had* to change or risked a major revolution by the people.

Kim may be sincere or he may not be.Â* But having discussions with
him is far better than closing our eyes and ears and just keep
ignoring the situation.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Kim is a murderer.

You forgot the construction of nukes and missiles capable of hitting
the US.

———

If trump can break all that down the media still won’t give him
credit for it.

Oh, I guess I missed that in the communique...so, North Korea gave up
its nukes, is taking down its facilities to build them, and is
allowing full access to UN inspectors? Damn! All that to get a Trump
Tower and Golf Course there, of course.

I guess you're right.Â*Â* Better to increase sanctions causing the people
of North Korea to suffer even more and deploy more battle groups off the
coast of North Korea with threats of wiping them off the face of the earth.

But, I didn't think you liked that approach either.Â* Hard to please.

I prefer it when diplomacy on our side is practiced by someone who has
studied up for the job and brings into the discussions a well-prepared
staff.

On the other hand, I think it is marvelous we finally have a POTUS who
can stand up to those pesky Canadians.

Trump is focusing on the future, not the past.

The MSNBC folks are thinking like typical American business people
and (predictably) are being very critical of the very early discussions
Trump and Kim Jong Un had as if they were supposed to work out every
nut and bolt.

The quotes I heard from the joint statement indicated they worked out
nothing at all. I suppose it is both ironic and telling that Trump can't
get along with our long-time allies but admires Kim Jung Un. Here's
something for Trump to consider...he'll get nowhere with the North
Koreans without the help of our allies.

But, isn't it great Trump is ****ting on Canada? USA USA USA.

Why bother responding to Luddite if you didn't understand what he
alluded to.
Morons like you are extremely difficult to communicate with. I
don't know why he continues to try.

I love it when the title of a thread so aptly describes you and your
responses here.

Harry knows nothing of military exercises. By 'giving them up', we are saving a whole potfull of
money. Their biggest effect was showing off to the North Koreans. We don't need to do that.

I wonder if Trump is aware that Kim had his uncle Jang Song-thaek killed
and his half-bro Kim Jong-nam assassinated, or that Kim and his regime
are considered among the worst, if not the worst, violators of human
rights in the world. And if he is aware of this, I wonder if Trump
admires Kim for that.

I can understand your frustration. It's shared ... or perhaps
originates with the elected leadership of your party ... and you
just parrot what their reactions are.

Trump is a complete mystery to them. They can't understand how
someone not from the swamp and applying a businesslike approach
to vexing problems can seem to effortlessly deal with issues that
have proved to be impossible tasks to the "politically" motivated,
schooled and brainwashed.

Sorta fun to watch as they reverse positions just to make sure
they can mock Trump and his supporters.

Plus, those in the left are acting as if Trump has cancelled military
exercises with South Korea forever. He never said that. The exercises
are a bone of contention with the North and he has canceled them for the
time being in a good faith gesture to further the possibilities of a
to be negotiated formal agreement with the North. If those negotiations
fail you can betyour ass the exercises will resume.

That brings up another point. The comments I am hearing from the left
make it sound like the "agreement" that was signed is the end of
discussions. It's only the opening sentence in any negotiated deal
that is made with North Korea.
