The U2 is still flying after all these years after many upgrades. I
still remember the feeling of amazement that I felt as a kid when it
was revealed that we'd been flying over Russia for many years.

I have a friend who used to pilot the U2. Retired marine officer. Flew
two tours Vietnam after a tour as a medic for a marine unit. I guess one
of those dumb military people according to Harry. Beat a draft notice by
joining the navy. Has his MD, and PHd in bio engineering. The film is
controlled to go by the aperture at the proper rate for exposure.
Aperture never closes. He said worse thing is when the pressure suit
leaks.

Yup this is another product of the genius of Kelly Johnson. It is
basically the F-104 (a pretty cool plane itself) with glider wings.
