The first 30 for got away. I should have grabbed it. It was a tri-toon with lots of add ons and 85 hp evinrude. And a Hoosier sissies trailer. $6,500..00 It wasn’t the dollar short but the day late.

Now have eyes on a standard 28 with 85 hp Mercury, collapsible hard top and nice furniture and a dual axle bunk trailer. $3500.00 Not bare bones but some add ins. Gonna go look at it tomorrow.

Not a fan of a single axle “sizzzer” trailer as the first had but I think the first would have been a better overall value.

Anyhow.....this one might come home with me.

Quoting that famous line from Jaws, "We're going to need a bigger

Wayne, I’m not sure how this is equipped as far as fuel capacity goes. However I do have a couple large 12 or 15 gal. ( don’t remember which size) Moehler red plastic tanks I’ve picked up along the way.. I’m even thinking on mounting two long 30 gal tank/cells on both sides. Those are led 2-smokers are a thirsty lot. But still cheaper than going 4 cycle outboard or converting to I/O. I/O would be great. They can be had from clapped out runabouts for cheap. The conversion is way high though...

Those between the toon trailers suck. It is harder to load, you have
to be very careful with what is under the stringers on the boat and
they tend to flip pretty easy because the axles are so short and the
wheels so close together.
A bunk trailer with a regular axle under it will trail pretty nicely,
even at interstate speeds. It is best (I have found) to have the
tongue down lower (not level) because the tilt of the boat tends to
add down force at speed and it trails better. I won't even tell Harry
how fast I have been with mine. For Richard, it was on Alligator Alley
at 2AM and I was pretty much alone there. Behind my van or Suburban,
it was pretty much unnoticeable. I do have a lighter than normal
pontoon tho, no furniture at all.

You are an electrical guy. Build an inboard with a generator attached.
Take the power head off an old 2 stroke and add an electric motor. I have
though for a time that that would be a cure for the high priced 4 stroke

I thought about doing something like that with a golf cart motor or
two and a pontoon. It would still end up using a bunch of batteries I
imagine. If you had the right charger you could use one of those quiet
inverter generators to help keep the batteries up but watts is watts
and you will still be depleting the batteries if you are running very
hard.

My 25 foot tritoon on its galvanized twin axle trailer is heavy, and you know it's back there. But on the interstate behind a late model Suburban, towing at 70 or so is no problem.

Just made it home with the 28. The twin axle bunk was 5 years old and worked flawlessly. Engine hasn’t run 🏃*♀️ n a year and a half but shouldn’t be a huge concern. I’ll replace the transom wood engine mount. It looks wet and a bit spongy. The floor is planks and not sheets. Interesting. Got some work to do but not really bad. The trailer alone is worth what I paid for the whole thing....

My phone works perfectly through the Highlander's Bluetooth radio.

There are plenty of studies that say talking on the phone is almost as
dangerous hands free as it is holding the phone. That is one Harry

I think it is also how quiet the car is. My Volt is really quiet, even
with the motor running, and 70 mph. Wife’s Venza has lots of road noise.
Hard to use the phone in hers. My truck is good for the driver, but not
the passenger. The Volt has better microphone or duel ones as both driver
and passenger can use the hands free.

It actually turns out holding the phone is not the distraction, it is
the conversation itself. Holding the phone is not as much of a
distraction as a cigarette or a cup of coffee. Nobody ever got burned
by a phone falling in their lap.

I think the distraction is fumbling with the phone to answer a call or
looking up a contact's phone number and placing the call, especially
if your car doesn't have a Bluetooth system and connection. A Bluetooth
connected phone to a vehicle's system makes it legally "hands free"
but it still can be distracting finding the button (mine's on the
steering wheel) to answer or place a call. I use it sparingly and
even if Mrs.E. calls me while I am driving I try to keep the
conversation short. If someone texts me, I see it on the display
and if I hit a button the computerized voice reads it to me.

It's really annoying when someone texts an image of something.
The voice reads all the file numbers (usually many of them) and
then the extension, usually .jpg. When you are driving, all this
is meaningless.

That's why you use some sense and don't snapchat while you are towing.

I can't wait until they make cell phones disabled while moving over 5mph.

Im really not that big on Bluetooth either. My wifes Honda CRV is rigged so the phone comes over the radio. I think thats better. But conversations are slurred.

There are plenty of studies that say talking on the phone is almost as
dangerous hands free as it is holding the phone. That is one Harry
can't get mad at me about. I don't have a phone with me 99.99% of the
time. I use about 20 minutes a year.

I don't see how talking over the radio can be any more distracting than talking to someone in the
car, especially if they're in the back seat.

And then you have the people texting while they drive. Going slow in the fast lane, swerving all over. As I pass and look over to see them looking down at their phone, I blow the horn. Their head snaps up and just maybe, they get the message. Idiots.

Ditto.

I’m really not that big on Bluetooth either. My wife’s Honda CRV is
rigged so the phone comes over the radio. I think that’s better. But
conversations are slurred.

Going fishing the other day, I stop for a light. Lady next to me actually
gets stopped. In one hand is the phone, other hand a cigarette. We have
had it illegal to hold the phone to use in the car for years. Can not
believe how many still do. And new cars, which you know have Bluetooth
built in.

It actually turns out holding the phone is not the distraction, it is
the conversation itself. Holding the phone is not as much of a
distraction as a cigarette or a cup of coffee. Nobody ever got burned
by a phone falling in their lap.

It probably is the dialing and texting that results in the most
phone-related accidents.

I agree about the texting. We were texting when most people didn't
think they would ever have a cell phone (1985 or so).
Even on a motorola PT "brick" (not the phone) with a half way decent
keyboard and display we knew it was pretty dangerous. We still did it
tho but usually when we were stopped.
The only "texting and driving accident" I ever had was using old
school texting, writing on a clipboard. I hit a curb in a parking lot.

I suppose it depends on what you are talking about and how much you
have to think about it. I am just citing studies.

Having participated in lots of 'studies' (as an OR/SA guy in the Army), I believe I can say that
most studies end up saying what the proponent of the study wants it to say.

I agree about studies but I also understand that if you are in a
serious conversation that takes a lot of thought, you are not thinking
about the road. That would really be true if you were flipping through
some papers on your seat looking for an answer to a question but I
understand that is a separate issue. It is still a fact that a lot of
people use their car as an office these days and I see them doing all
sorts of stuff on the road.
It still may not be as distracting as a mom trying to see what the
kids are doing in the back seat tho. ;-)
That is the down side of not letting kids ride in the front.
